I just sent the seller an email. If they respond and say they will ship to the US, I'll buy one and be the guinea pig.

Wow! But I'm guessing this voids our warranty? Would love to see how this works out... Stupid Carplay is taking so long.

I'd be willing to be a beta tester, but would he be willing to send it all the way to CT?

Ahh my bad. I was hoping that they would be able to send me a prototype device to test on my vehicle. after I wrote my last post I thought about it and realized it wouldn't be practical. Sorry my brain is fried from today.

Is it grounding a wire that would normally be for the brake sensor?

If so, why not just splice/ground the wire yourself?

Whie I have a GE and not a GK, that's what I did for both of my aftermarket HUs (Kenwood DNX9980HD and DNN991HD). I don't intend on ever watching videos while driving though, so it wasn't really needed.

The harness for the DNX, the teal wire that bites into the black ground wire. It was part of the harness so it was simple. For the DNN, they moved a few wires to a separate harness... made it a bit more annoying tying two harnesses together.

i think there is brake + GPS or sometime of motion bypass that is required.
the HU knows when the car is moving and it will disable the HDMI maybe speedo or abs sensor bypass?

An easy test is to lower the ebrake until it barely triggers the brake warning light, go into a large (empty) parking lot and see if HDMI is still locked out while driving around.

Cause the item in the first post looks like it's designed to ground one wire just like the pic I posted. Only difference is that it grounds to the chassis immediately, while mine goes to the ground wire in the harness.

Brake is not a solution for us CVT owners as ours is triggered by taking car out of Park.... ground wire might be a possibility?

I tried this, i have a 6 speed. One click of the handbrake makes the screen work as it's obviously tied into the same warning as the handbrake light. But once you get to the speed/distance that the doors lock themselves the screen turns off.

So its tied into two different systems. Although I know its not a gps system because i was three floors down in a underground car park.

This may be a stupid question, but what if you turn automatic locking off?

Would be cool if there is a hidden diagnostic / factory menu to change the settings without going through the wiring hacks.
