a lot of new cars have either a cell phone receiver or a satellite receive used to do various things to the car remotely such as lock or unlock the car, disable the engine, etc.

I have a 2015 Fit with Navi. I know it has a siriusxm receiver and a gps but neither (I thought) were used or could be used to remotely control the car. Does the Fit have one? And if it does, is it possible to disable it? Is it possible to find out more about what it can and can not do?

 

What they fail to mention in that article is how close the hacker(s) has to be to the car to get it to actually work. Scare tactics. Everyone who believes it should just walk. I would say ride a bicycle, but GPS trackers can be put in those too. Then again, who doesn't have a GPS-equipped cell phone in their pocket?
