I spliced the OEM harness (one wire) leading to the original horn, removing the connector. You could extend the harness by splicing in between, keeping the connectors, and then mount the horns at a location of your choosing. |

I have not seen the OEM harness style adapter before. Granted, my online searches were never in-depth. Was this included specifically for the set of Hellas you purchased?

You could extend the harness by splicing in between, keeping the connectors, and then mount the horns at a location of your choosing. this is the harness I purchased. by the looks of the pictures, I'll have to splice the oem harness (remove it entirely) and tap the "back to stock horn harness" red/black wires to the oem's 2 wires. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fit...fd1dee19ae.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fit...0393879d3b.jpg |
do you guys think I can leave the oem harness as is.... and simply plug the red wire from the harness kit, into the 1 pin thats located inside the oem harness .... and make it work?

Hey, ECF, you got the ktuner, have you only plugged in with the stock tune? Or did you have it tuned/tune it yourself? Cheers, d

For the time being, I'm running the included "stage 1" map. One day, I'd like to find a tuner to work with, and create a custom tune for the mods I have/will have |
Perhaps the newer generation of Fit has two wires leading to the horn?
My horn wire harness only had one wire leading to the OEM horn. I cut that, stripped it back a little, then used some butt connectors to another length of wire. The new wire was split in two to each Supertone. The remaining post on each Supertone was wired to the frame/mounting bracket as ground. This is similar to what the stock horn does (one wire for power, chassis ground). I did not use the relay, nor did I run any in-line fuse to the battery. I read that not doing so could lead to the wire catching fire, but I have yet to see that happen (in this car or other cars of mine that have had aftermarket horns installed). |
I wonder if I can just ground the neg wire, and the pos wire to the rest of the harness .... hmmmm

i use supertones on my STI with a perin mount. it sounds.. LOUD! not a pretty tone at all which i likes on a wrx. |
hmmmm, that gives me an idea ... i currently have hella's on my 04 wrx .... ill take off the grille and see how I did the install. IIRC .... the hot wire was connected to the actual horns and the black wire was grounded to the hood latch.... will report back in a few hours!

Shawn Church has always been my go-to-guy for tunes. IIRC, he does work up in Vegas nowadays. I recently reached out to him, and found out he does tune ktuner's |
actually, there is a pic or two or three I'd like to share. comic con weekend always gives me a chance to hang out with friends from out of town, and explore my own city .... something I rarely ever do for one reason or another

im neither an anime or comic fan but my wife has a j-comic library with like 4000 comic books. lol |

you'll also find disney, spongebob/nickelodeon, and other popular tv shows and movies.... theres something for everyone. theres video games, too much for me to describe. you should google it, and take a look at some videos people put up, it should give you a decent "feel" for what the vibes are like at one of these epic events |

FINALLY got around to buying bolts that fit the Throttle Body spacer. It was a huge PITA ... all local store only carried 60mm or 70mm bolts, 65mm was the length I needed. Amazon ... FTW. For anyone considering doing this ... know that shifting the throttle body does mess with the mounting location of the oem air box ... be warned.
(why didnt I cut it? I cant locate my dremel, its lost in a sea of moving boxes) https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fit...9982258d1d.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fit...3dd16ade43.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fit...2ad3a76d0d.jpg |
ALSO .... while I was in there and my hands already nice and dirty ... I went ahead and installed an air compressor inline moisture seperator. (AKA, oil catch can)
https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fit...326a0c9acf.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fit...ebeb844f3c.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fit...3125b51b24.jpg installed at 30k. def a noticeable amount of fluid in there after only 1 day (30 ish miles) of driving https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fit...f7e37c96f2.jpg |
We have these on all the equipment at work. I don’t know why I never thought to repurpose one. Brilliant! |
looks good evil! can u notice anything different with the throttle body spacer? |
Got a link for that catch can? I like that it's more compact than other versions posted on here and the fact that it's glass like you posted in another thread.

SO.... after 339 miles ... here is how much oil my "catch can" has collected, roughly 5ml: https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fit...521aab5e4b.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fit...95e799260e.jpg oil catch can installed at 32000, temporarily removed at 32339: https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fit...f991e6d279.jpg for those who wonder, this is the oil I use. I went with the "high mileage" formula, I hear it has conditioners for the rings.... *shrug* https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fit...033ee0c946.jpg The day of the oil catch can install, I also installed the TB spacer. for the past week or so, I did notice my car has lost a decent amount of top end power. I'm wondering if its the catch can? Could it possibly be that the design of this moisture trap/moisture separator is somehow restricting flow? For the next week or 2, I'm gonna experiment by removing the oil catch can, and seeing if it restores any of my top end. If I dont see any diff, I'll do the opposite and remove the TB spacer and reinstall the oil catch can and re observe. As always, I'll report back soon ish |
Why would you put a catch can on a street car that doesn't actively consume oil? That seems like it has zero benefit & only room for harm.

wow datz a lot of oil!! |
That's a fair bit of oil for less than 400 miles...
|
5ml per 400 miles isnt THAT bad. Times that by 10 ... every 4000 miles driven should come out to 50ml of oil loss. Assuming I'm a thug and do oil changes every 8000 miles, that comes out to 100ml of oil loss.
100ml = 3.38oz Oil Change Interval = 3.5 QT = 112oz That comes out to roughly 3% oil loss, I think its fair to say, its within the realm of "safe" |
Sure, not THAT bad, but better if it isn't baked on to the back of your valves
