What made you opt for the six-piston calipers over the four-piston calipers? |

I'm normally a fan of bigger brakes, but without doing some kind of rear disc conversion, you're taking a setup that already has a huge bias to the front and making it even more biased to the front. I know the fronts do most of the work, but on this car with the drums and most owners not trying to late brake into corner entry, my suspicion is that they intentionally reduced the rear braking power to increase the service interval.
I don't have any numbers to prove it one way or the other, but I've seen on other threads that people go three or more sets of front pads before the drums need any work. Other family cars I've had were either two to one front/rear, or change all four corners at once. |
I agree with the 60/40 split front and rear and the fact that the fronts wear quicker than the rear. Every vehicle I have ever had I have put more brake pads on the front than the rear usually two to one as you say, it just depends on your driving style. |
I also read a couple other forms about the GK5 DPHA Wilwood set on a track GK5 out of China and he posted that this setup wasn’t much better than stock but that the 12 inch rotor was a noticeable difference. Both kits he tried he had race shoes installed on the rear for the drums. He also stated that he had driven other GK5s that had the rear disc conversion and didn’t notice any difference then his car with the race shoes on the rear drum setup |

Thanks for replying USDM. The rotors come in the kit as USDM mentioned. They are the SRP drilled rotor. Here is a pic from Wilwoods website with part numbers.https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fit...9eabfa3ab1.png |

Dynapro Radial Big Brake Front Brake Kit (Race) comes with high-temperature pad (BP30) and Spec-37 Iron rotor. I am wondering if standard pad (BP10) could be used together with this spec-37 iron rotor. Do you have any idea?

click on your own link, click on the " Brake Pad Plate: " link .... and there will be a list of avail pads that work for that setup |
Evil what made you choose the four piston over the six? Also are you noticing any bedding issues using the bp20 or bp30 pads over the bp10 due to the higher temps needed to bed them in? They look great on your vehicle and yes I agreee they are brake dust city. |

how are the race shoes different from stock ?
|
The only thing I know of is the compound used has a more aggressive bite for the race pads and the temp needed for the correct use is higher

I've been trying to search all your threads but I can't seem to find it... what size rotors are you running? The only 4 piston Wilwood kit I can find is the one on Axion's GK5 page, with the 11.6" rotors.
Is it that one? I am using 160-12838-BK (10.32) a quick google search will reveal 1 seller that has it for $64.99 |

Man, I've already given up lol. Kit is way overpriced, HRV rear beam is too different to swap components. Only thing I've been thinking is maybe the spoon rear adjusting plates that give you a mounting bracket and piecing it togeher from there.
looks like sulayman has discovered that fast brakes has a kit, so one can add rear disc brakes. if I am reading this "kit" correctly, you can choose your own caliper .... which should in theory include wilwoods .... https://www.fastbrakes.com/ProductDe...r-11-disc-swap https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fit...186584592f.png |
Wilwood 6 piston setup
Just purchased the 6 piston calipers. Does anybody know if I need new stainless brake lines? Cheers!
