Lifted Honda Fit with All Terrain Tires

Lifted

Lifted my 2015 Honda Fit EX. Used the Insight springs in the rear and strut spacers in the front. I then bought some cheap steelies and put some 195/75/14 All Terrains on her. No rubbing or issues. Will someone measure from ground to wheel well and tell me how many inches their stock fit is sitting at? I'm currently around 27 inches in the rear and 26.5 inches in the front.

That looks awesome and I can only imagine is hilarious to drive. I have an '08, so don't know if this helps much, but it's on stock steel wheels and stock suspension and sits at around 24.5 inches all around. Cheers.

Looks and sounds good! I'm starting to regret I bought stock size tires for my winter wheels. I'd really appreciate more ground clearance.

I miss my 07. Loved the body style. I think that is pretty close to the GK. Somewhere around 24.5 inches. So, I guess I'm up about 2 inches in the front and 2.5 inches in the rear. Crazy the difference a couple inches make.

I tried to put some 215/65/16 on the stock EX wheel. It was definitely too big. However, they do make an All-terrain at 215/60/16 that might just make it. I didn't want to risk it, so I went with the smallest all-terrain I could find.

I actually didn't love the look of my car when I bought it but I really love it now. I like not having the rear winglet. Makes it look kind of European I guess? Sophisticated, lol.

Nice lift! Do you know how close the fit suspension to the insights? I want to lift my insight.
Any thoughts about fit kits fitting insights?

Thanks Max

Max,

I used stock Insight springs to lift the fit. I'm unsure what you would need to do to lift the Insight. Could use spacers.

This is rad! I have a 2016 and about to do pretty much the same thing. Trying 2019 Honda Insight springs in the rear and the Tema 4x4 30mm spacers from Russia (haha) on the front. We'll see how it goes! Tires I grabbed are a bit smaller though, using 195/55/16s. Your tire/wheel setup looks mean though - love it.

Nice mini battlecar, this actually looks almost intentional from the factory. Gives me like the old Suzuki Samurai vibes.

This is awesome! It's exactly what I want to do with my Fit. Would you happen to know the offset of the steel wheels you purchased? The tires sit in a good position from the fender!

@a.cheung The steelies are +35 and it is more than enough. You could probably get by with +38-+43 something like that. When I got it aligned, the dealership said it was at the very limit of what they could keep aligned, so bringing it in a little more might be a good thing.

@qwertyle That is the setup I went with, except the insight springs were from a 2012 or so.

What kit and how much lift?

I have exactly one million questions:
what lift height did you get?
What lift kit brand and where did you order it from?
How did this impact your gas mileage and driveability?
Are you auto or manual trans?
Ok not one million.... Four. I had four questions

Just shy of 2 inches up front and 2.25 in the back...including the tires.
I used stock Honda Insight springs from 2010-2014 for the rear and tema4x4 30mm spacers for the front.
I noticed a drop of 2-3mpg in gas mileage. Drivability is a little different. Mainly because my tire/wheel setup is so much heavier. Not quite as go-karty handling.
It is the CVT transmission. I am on my 3rd CVT with this car. First died at 102k miles, second at about 75k miles, and just installed this one with 25k miles.
The first failed before I ever changed tires/lift. Second one failed after maybe 10k miles with this new setup.
Definitely go for the manual. Like just in general. I'll never buy a Honda CVT again.

Yep that is absolutely the worst pairing of transmission and mods you could have picked, CVT's do not like high torque. (No matter what the ads say... LOL)

Where to get the springs?

So I've been looking for 2010 to 2014 Honda insight springs and I'm not having any luck. Is there a part number or a good site to pick these up? I'm also not having any luck finding any in junkyards. My goal is to get my fit about 2 in taller without bigger tires and then try and get some tall tires without rubbing. I'm also willing to do a little bit of flare on the fenders as I was very successful doing that with a 2007 fit that I bought with improper offset rims already on it.

I drove to Big Bend Ranch State Park a week ago and am still high on the experience. But the problem is it's entirely too rough on the bottom of the car. I figure if I get a 2-in lift and another inch or inch and a half with tires I'll be fine. And I will also make the folks at the ranch jealous. It seems a few of them consider using a Honda Fit "cheating" lol.

My fit is a six-speed manual and I suspect that taller tires shouldn't hurt the mechanics. It has such a steep ratios in the low gears and also revs a bit high on the highway so I figure it's a win/win except perhaps gas mileage.

Alright, so first off the part number for the insight rear springs,

52441-TM8-A11

The front springs will offer no lift, these give somewhere between 1.2-1.5 inches in the rear. Tema 4x4 makes front strut spacers at 30mm, so about 1.18 inch lift. Just search on ebay and you can find those.

I suspect 205/70/15 or 215/60/16 will fit up front but I haven't tried them yet. I'm running 195/75/14

The rear will hold a max of about 27.7 inches of tire so 215/75/15 or slightly smaller 205/70/16 should work. You may need wheel spacers depending on the wheels you use.

All in all, I would expect about 2.25 inch up front total and 3-3.35 inch lift in the rear max. This is all without making modifications to your fenders/wheel well, etc. Note that this will effect your speedo, so 65 mph readout will be 70, etc.

Good luck

I put the 215/60R16 on my 2016 and the fronts would rub a piece on the strut. I put some washers on the studs behind the wheel and it does not rub. Yesterday had it loaded down with gear and another person and hit a dip on the highway and got a moment of tire rub on the rear. Today added the lift kit spacers on top of the coil springs. I have not tried it out yet but it looks good parked. Tomorrow or the next day I will try to do the front lift.
