20mm Wheel Spacers

Thought I was being original and cool, opting for 20mm wheel spacers instead of the usual 25mm which most everyone here applies to their back wheels. I chose 20mm because I feel that 25mm make the back wheels more flush to the fenders than the front wheels and I'm all about consistency.

Turns out 20mm leaves just enough of the stock wheel bolt sticking out into the back of the stock wheels to prevent the wheels from being seated completely flush to the spacer. I now realize that 25mm probably would have been just right.

I could replace the stock bolts with shorter versions, but I'm not sure I care about this mod enough to go through that effort. Alternatively, I could shave the stock bolts down, but that seems sketchy.

I'm pretty stubborn about 20mm or nothing, so I may just say F it and return the spacers. I'd like to read your guys' thoughts on matter if you have any...

How much did you give for the spacers? How hard is it to swap to shorter studs with us having drum brakes in the rear? I was waiting to see how yours looked to do the same thing. Lol! I also want some aftermarket 16x7 wheels and haven't looked to see if they have enough of a recess for the studs. I want a flush look without protruding too much.

Just go with 25mm spacers. They look fine with stock wheels and the off-set matches the front just fine

Rear studs are super easy to swap on GK no disassembly of the hub. I'd take the easy route and go with 25mm

I'm probably missing something, but it does appear some disassembly is required to switch out the studs... It doesn't really matter, I'll either go with 25mm or forget about the mod. Just gotta make up my mind. Thanks for the input!

Nope, slide off the drums and press them out. You'll have to rotate the hub to a point where there's the most clearance behind to get out/ put in the stud. That's it though. Rears are super easy on a GK

Interesting... More food for thought. Thanks for the tip, jhn.

Hello all,
New here and not a big do it urselfer. I was wondering how the 25mm spacers effect the ride, alignment, and safety. I definitely like the look of the wheels closer to the out side. Will a larger tire fit on the stock rims that would fill the space?
