Is Your 3rd Gen Too Low?

My 2015 sits too low. The bottom cover was dragging on the ground. Eventually it finally broke off. Anyone else have this happen to you?

It has not. I can see how it would happen though. The tabs it comes with are rubbish, and it should come zip tied from the factory.

I agree. I looked at the engine cover when it broke off. It was installed with those push in fasteners. I'll go to the dealership and replace it.

About 8 oil changes and 89k and still on there, even after hitting a fox on the drive home.

For the life of me I have no idea how the bottom engine cover fell off my car. The Toyota Prius is starting to look pretty good to me right now.

Could be the people who do your oil changes. The 6 screws and 2 grommets holding the cover have to be properly returned. Have done all my oil changes since new (Sept., 2014) and have not lost any of them.
The design itself could be sturdier but then again the Fit is an econo-box . The Prius is going upscale. Pay more, get more!!!

Yup. I bought it brand new from a Honda dealer back in February 2015. 33 miles on the odometer.

If I bought any car brand new, and something was dragging, I would have immediately brought it back to the dealer. No car is designed to have something dragging, no matter how low it sits.

Eventually? How long were you driving around with it dragging? Didn't you bother to try and reattach it properly?

Instead you'd rather blame the height of the car. Really?

Yes the attachment at the rear of the cover is a poor design, but if reattached properly it's not an issue.

Yeah, if you're just driving around with stuff dragging off of your car that is 100% your own fault. 2015 Fit is no lower than the GE and GD...both of which have ground clearance for any normal driving

i would suspect the low wagers who change your oil , yea the fasteners are cheap , you have to be careful with them . i,ve done a few changes on my '19 now and my cover is still good , dealing with it is a little tedious for sure but one thing i've noticed with the cover is that it's keeping the engine compartment clean . if it ever fell off , i'd
get another one

I'm getting a new one soon. Right now since the engine cover snapped off at least it's not dragging on the ground anymore. I have the engine cover that snapped off. I'm going to show it to the Honda Service Advisor.

If it makes you feel any better, my cover was torn off when I got high centered in some deep snow about a year ago, and there has been no noticeable difference in fuel economy or anything else. As far as being too low, I lowered mine about an inch and I love it. It's not necessarily about the height, though, if the stock suspension had less dive and roll I might have left it alone.
