Streaking wipers - what to do?

Hello,

I have 1st gen jazz and there is annoying things happening for a long time. I have streaking wipers. Actually only the drivers side wiper is streaking, but only on the way down. Drivers wiper cleans the window okay until it comes all the way to the upper position and then on the way down it starts streaking and leaves a streak straight at my sight of line. It's super annoying and happens most of the time if it's raining slowly or the windshield is not wet.

I bought new high quality wipers. I tried cleaning windshield with windows cleaner. I tried cleaning wipers with wd-40 - read that it helps, but nothing actually helped.

Could it be that windshield needs to be polished? Or the wiper motor is malfunctioning or needs to be tighten up?

It can't hurt to give the windshield a good cleaning if the new wipers didn't do the trick.. odd one

Glass cleaner does not always work. Look for a glass polishing compound to get all of the build up off the glass itself.

Rain-X is great stuff. Above say 40 MPH you hardly need to have the wipers on.

If cleaning the glass doesn't help, you could also check if the wiper arm comes off the glass smoothly and the spring pushes it firmly. Had this happen on another car where the rear wiper would do almost nothing, turned out there was some rust in the hinge and spring that prevented it from begin pushed firmly against the glass.
