Belt squealing.. water pump?
Belt squealing.. water pump?
Hello friends
I'm driving a 2008 Honda Fit sport. Just had my main belt changed and ended up with a random sequel. Never had this problem before. Played with the tension, still squealing. Put on a new idler pulley... still squealing. Put belt dressing on.. still squealing.
Could it possibly be the water pump bearing or even air conditioning bearing? Would it be worth a shot just to change the water pump and see where that takes us?
Thank you in advance

If you can safely work it, get an inexpensive mechanic's stethoscope or a length of broomhandle and touch the alternator, A/C compressor, power steering pump, etc. and see if you can hear the squeal. It'll help you narrow down your search.
Hi Jason, How are you? Do you practice mechanics in your car? I think the only way to find out is to remove the two belts and manually turn the water pump, alternator, air conditioning compressor and tensioner pulley or try, with the engine running, with your hearing sensitivity, to hear exactly where the noise is coming from or which device is running heavily causing noise and damage to the belt. It would be better not to use the car until the problem is resolved.
