New fit owner clutch concern

New fit owner here. I've noticed that the clutch is not very forgiving but thr past owner states it's a new clutch. This clutch I'm assuming is self adjusting? Also have no air conditioning compressor kicks on maybe out of freeon?
2008 fit
Thanks!

hey one quick thing to check, an ‘08 could be a first gen or a second gen, can you double check if you’re driving a first or second generation Fit? If you have a first gen I think you should move this comment to the appropriate forum.

I ask cause if it’s a first gen, the AC system on our first generation is also non functional. It could be that you’re out of refrigerant, but in our case it was the AC compressor that was shot. If you’re lucky it’s just refrigerant, but it could also be a leak, the compressor clutch, or the compressor itself. That’s assuming all the small stuff like fuses etc aren’t the issue.

As for the clutch, can you explain what you mean by forgiving? New clutches have more grip and slip less. I tend to think of ‘forgiving’ as less prone to stalling, so if you’re finding the clutch tends to grab more then you probably do have a newer clutch. If that’s not what you meant please let us know what you mean, but grippy is usually what you want
