Clutch fluid, change !
Clutch fluid, change !
2009 fit sport manual . At 195k I finally thought maybe I should have the clutch hydraulic system drained and refreshed. The mechanic tried but upon refil, the clutch didn’t work. Offered no resistance to pushing in the pedal. He told me that the old clutch fluid ( brake fluid) was like mud, full of particulate matter. He said he had to put in new master/slave cylinders at a cost of about 200 the pair. He did not charge me for labor because he said I was a regular and he should have told me to renew that fluid in the 3 years he Has serviced the car. Said some clutch hydraulics are in the brake system but mine was discrete. we have been servicing the brake system fluid.

It sounds like they got air into the system and didn't bleed it vs. a failure. They don't last forever without maintenance though, so you may just be proactively changing it a bit early. It's a very easy DIY to flush the system.
It sounds like you didn't get abused on the fees. That's good.
If you had no clutch fluid replacement in 195k mi., then, yeah, the fluid goes bad and creates problems for you. Why the clutch master/slave was working before the service, then suddenly stopped working after the guy tried to service it is a bit of a question.
