Special way to install a axle seal?

Seal was leaking on my '08 manual transmission Fit. Pulled the old one, popped a new one (from Autozone) in. Went in by hand, pretty easy. Next day, oil all over the subframe.
Bought another one from Honda. Pressed in by hand, and tapped lightly with a huge 36 mm socket thinking I didn't go in far enough the previous time.
Still leaking. What the heck am I doing wrong? At least I can pull an axle in less than 30 minutes......

And to confirm, there's only one seal between the CV axle and the transmission? Like, I didn't miss an inner seal or something?

One seal on each side, I replaced them when rebuilding the gearbox. I thought I hammered it in too deeply but it works fine.

Are you sure it's the correct part, and there's no damage on the seal or the bore?

Sorry, been chasing this for weeks now.
I have replaced both seals now with factory Honda seals. Figured out (or assumed) that the passenger side was pressed in too far and was mangled up buy the diff.
However, on a quick test drive, I still have oil dripping down from the drain plug area. Oil is clean, so hard to trace where it's coming from. The area around the seals feels dry with no leaks, so now I'm wondering if the leak is coming from somewhere else. I just can't figure out where from. It seems like around the back of the transmission. I checked the vent tube and it's dry around it.
Does anyone know if there might be an overflow if it's too full? I put about 1.75 quarts in it after draining, so maybe I overfilled? It was coming out a little bit, but seemed to stop. Maybe I didn't let it drip long enough. If that's the case, where would it be coming out?

Searching the site, I've seen a couple of posts about a leaking transmission (that's not the seals), does anyone know where else it might be leaking from?

I'm totally baffled at this point and questioning if I was replacing seals when the problem was somewhere else.

Figure I'd update in case anyone else runs across this problem. (Although I doubt anyone can be as stupid as I have been with this).
Turns out you can very easily push the axle seals too far in. So much so, the inner ring rubs on the transmission and gets chewed up and starts to leak.

The service manual actually shows that there is a gap behind the seal where it seats. If you hammer it in all the way, it can leak. I’ll try and snap a picture this week.

it’s actually going to be my 4th time I’m fed up already I’ve installed it very gently but I haven’t greased it fully like another post I sawl and I haven’t tried the socket trick I will try this weekend again. Good thing I work for parts center in Torrance I saved on axle seals dealer wants 28 a seal I get mine for $11

I use an old seal to tap in the new one. Grease only makes assembly easier and isn’t required I think. I’ll have to check the manual.

oh ok I haven’t looked at any manual yet but from what people have telling me it needs to sit very flush if it’s off by a mili it will leak. I think I’m just to retarded to put this crap in man I can do everything else on a dam car but this seal is a challenge for me I’ve checked part numbers at work and I’m getting the correct one maybe when I pop in axle I may be damaging it I’m not sure but I’ll let you know when I fix this as of now I’m tired of dealing with it

this guy has a decent video on Honda axle seals. There’s no way I could have pushed my seals in by hand but this guy added a lot of grease. Like I said, I used the old seals and very light hammer taps to seat the seal. I think I greased the surface where it mates to the axle. I would use a silicone grease to make sure it’s compatible with the rubber.
