use a bungee cord or wire coat hanger to support the whole knuckle. that way it wont allow the knuckle to move downward and pop the axle out of socket.

I've changed a few axles and I can tell you that it's quite difficult to pop the axle out. Don't be an idiot and you shouldn't have any issues

^They actually slide out very easily when up on a lift without the support of the bungee or coat hanger like kudakev615 said. I learned this the hard way last week...

I had a helluva time replacing my axle. What part slides out that youre having trouble with?

once it angles down to a certain point without support it just slides right out.

You can use a box or another jack or even your scissors jack to support the knuckle. Lower just enough to pull out the strut.

Some clever member used his second hydraulic jack he had to aid in the install after the spring was replaced.

Yea, verily. Letting the hub flop out is definitely not good practice unless you like re-insertyibg the axle. Good bungee works best for us.

Correct, to be clear we are not talking about the axle popping out of the transmission. With out supporting the knuckle the inner cv joint will slid out of alignment and binds up. I did the same thing ckipps when I installed my coilovers last week too haha.

I used floor jack to hold it up and then it can double to raise and lower everything without strain. Was very cautious after reading the problems on here. Just don't go berserk when pulling stuff out and be careful.

Using wire zip ties go around axle at each side of the CV. Then with more zip ties connect both sides allowing some movement but not enough to allow it to slide out. Kinda like a loose cage. I'll search for a photo and post it up later.
