did my axle pop out?

did my axle pop out?
hey guys..
Spent today doing strut replacement.... due to hex stabilizer bolt being stripped, spent hours.. anyways.
I'm working on the passenger side strut and I think it popped but i'm not sure. I was able to push the axle in and was able to tighten everything down.
One thing I noticed was that the passenger wheel was free spinning while in park.
Can someone confirm that my axle is not where its suppose to be?
If so...how can I fix this..?
thanks in advance.

I would say the axle popped out. a simple way to check is by reaching under the car where the axle boot is and seeing if you can feel 3 bumps on the shaft. if you can that means the axle has popped out.

Thanks... I'll check it out tomorrow...
Does it usually pop out on wheel side (outside) or transmission (inside)?
Also, how many bumps should I feel if it didnt pop out?

It's certainly possible the axle came out. However, the wheel spinning freely in park is normal if you have both front wheels off the ground. The transmission is locked, but the differential allows the wheels to spin in opposite directions.
This is why you absolutely must set the handbrake and preferably chock a wheel when changing a flat front tire. If just the park setting on the transmission is used, once you hoist one front wheel off the ground you have nothing preventing the car from rolling and toppling off the jack.

Thanks guys. I finished putting on the other strut this morning and.... noticed following:
- in reverse, both wheels were spinning
- in "D", only one wheel was spinning..
I went for test ride and it seems to drive good so i think i'm good here.
Thanks for your help.
