Rear suspension thump: worn damper bushing?
Rear suspension thump: worn damper bushing?
Rear suspension on my Gen 3 makes a thumping sound going over bumps. I accessed the top of the damper and found that there is excess space between the damper bushing plate, the rubber damper bushing, and the car body. I am able to compress the damper by pushing down on the damper bushing plate/bolt to take that space, so I’m assuming this is the cause of the thumping.
I tried tightening the damper mounting bolt, but there appears to be a metal stop preventing the bolt from being tightening any further.
My hope is that I can simply replace the rubber damper bushing (which may have flattened over time?), but if anyone else has thoughts here I would appreciate them.
