Hi,
Long time lurker and this forum has helped immensely with fixing issues on my son's 2011 Honda Fit Sport with 240,000 miles
However, it's time to let the Fit go. I'm asking for some advice on whether to junk the Fit for $550 or sell it (as a mechanic special) to get a bit more ($1,000 - $1,400).
The FIT is sadly in rough shape. My son has not taken the best care of it. Check Engine light on (Cylinder 4 misfire, O2 sensor code), likely needs a new CAT, Paint is very faded, cracked windshield, TPMS light on.
The thing is the car runs and drives, so it's hard for me to say junk it when someone could make use of it.
Sell it, most of that doesn't sound hard to fix, my brother seems to have neglected the one he basically gave me with 275k on it which he's had for at least 100k of that and it' just needs some TLC but is otherwise driving fine. (mostly)
IF you were close by, heck I'd even look at it and maybe make an offer...

Should I try to sell it or junk it?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
It likely doesn't need a new CAT, it likely just needs a new rear O2 sensor, and the TPMS is likely just the battery are dead in the pressure sensors and need replaced. Misfire could be a failing coil or just needs spark plugs, all this stuff is to easy to fix without spending a lot of money, that's why I said if you were close by i'd make an offer.
It's hard to find a cheap running car these days, much less an economical one. Lots of people need them to commute, get to school or shopping, etc., and don't care about cosmetics.
So for someone who needs a daily driver, a car like this could be a godsend.
All the issues you mentioned can be repaired. Assuming you don't have frame damage, holes in the floorboards, a cracked head or other dealbreaker, I'd fix it up first, then sell it.
