Post [FEELER] Custom CNC Billet Aluminum Front Lower Control Arms (GE8 Honda Fit) – Survey

Hey Fit-ers!,

As many of you know, tracking down the factory forged aluminum front lower control arms from the 2010–2014 Honda Insight to drop unsprung weight on the GE8 chassis is becoming a major headache. Most aftermarket parts catalogs shortcut production by substituting heavy-stamped steel Fit arms under the Insight part numbers, making the upgrade nearly impossible to source brand-new.

To solve this, I am laying the groundwork to reverse-engineer, test, and manufacture a custom batch of premium CNC-machined billet aluminum front lower control arms designed specifically for the 2009–2014 Honda Fit chassis.

The engineering goal is to deliver a beautiful, high-rigidity component that slashes front unsprung weight by roughly 2 to 3 lbs per side, utilizes internal pocketed webbing for optimized strength, and is explicitly engineered to accept standard, off-the-shelf replacement bushings and ball joints so you can easily service them down the line.

Before spending hours on deep 3D metrology scans, structural Finite Element Analysis (FEA) testing simulations, and local machine shop CNC time, I want to gather your feedback to see if the demand is there and lock down final design options.

Please take 2 minutes to review the questions below and share your input:
  1. What is the primary operational environment for your GE8 Honda Fit?

[ ] Daily Driver / Street Sport Tuning

[ ] Local Autocross (AX) / HPDE Track Days

[ ] Fully Stripped Race Car / Dedicated Time Attack Build

    2. What front suspension configuration are you currently running?

    [ ] Factory Dampers & Stock Springs

[ ] Performance Lowering Springs paired with Sport Shocks (Koni, Swift, Bilstein, etc.)

[ ] Fully Adjustable Coilovers (Tein, BC Racing, Fortune Auto, etc.)

    3. What is your delivery preference regarding bushings and ball joints?

[ ] I want the arms shipped fully loaded with fresh, high-quality rubber bushings and a lower ball joint pre-pressed into the housings (100% plug-and-play).

[ ] I want bare machined billet arms only; I prefer to source and press in my own specialized hardware.

    4. How critical is unsprung front-axle weight reduction to your current build?

[ ] High Priority (Every ounce shaved directly sharpens steering response and tracking translation).

[ ] Moderate Priority (Nice advantage, but structural rigidity under hard cornering loads matters more).

[ ] Low Priority (Mainly looking for pure hardware durability and the high-end machined billet aesthetic).

    5. Assuming a premium, structurally tested billet aluminum component engineered and machined in the USA, what price tier do you consider fair for a complete pair?

    [ ] $400 - $500 (For a pair of bare machined billet arms)

    [ ] $550 - $650 (For a complete pair pre-assembled with heavy-duty replacement joints and bushings)

[ ] I love the engineering concept, but this sits outside my build budget tier.
