what gas should I try and use for the FIT

Just got a blue sport and am wondering what gas I should be using? I knkow high sulfur fuels reak havoc on the O2 sensors. I like buying cheap Sam's club gas, etc. but also want the car to last and don't mind paying a few extra cents per gallon now that I have something that gets good mpg.

thoughts?

I would stick with Sam's Club or just your local Chevron or something and toss in 87 octane. I wouldn't worry too much about your O2 sensors for about another 80K miles.

yeah, but if I use shell or exxon or bp which probably have less sulfur, I probably won't have to worry about it ever....

Not sure though.....is there a good place to look at fuel sulfur contents (avg) -- based on brand?

I've used Speedway (Marathon) 87 octane almost all the time - getting ~36-37 m/g in mixed driving, Sport 5 speed.

When I bought my FIT, the salesman specifically said "Do not use BP!". Also, my wife was told not to use BP in her Odyssey.

When I bought a new motorcycle, salesman "said don't use BP!"

We don't use BP.

So shell v power is bad because its high octane rating...
Is the FIT not designed for 93 octane?

thoughts?

You don't need high octane in the fit. You can run it all day long but it isn't going to give you more power or anything. On a sports car with different innards, it will help prevent detonation...But you aren't going to have to worry about the Fit detonating unless you add boost.

As for worrying about your O2 sensors EVER...They will go bad. Period. They last a long time but they are an expendable item. Nothing to lose sleep over. Just like oil, brake pads, clutches, etc. That would be like saying, I will never rev past 1000 rpms so my clutch lasts forever. It is still going to go.

Good luck.

Kris
