Ugh! I was attacked by a highway gator.
Ugh! I was attacked by a highway gator.
I was doing 80mph on the highway when I hit a tire tread that was lying in my lane. It was standing on its side and it happened to be on the far side of a hump so I didn't have enough time to avoid it. I thought I was going to have a hole in my front bumper. I had to drive another hour and a half to get to work, but I got to check it out and found out that it wasn't as bad as I had thought. I had to take off the lip and refasten some tabs that had tore. I also had to remove the piece of rubber underneath the lip to put some of the tabs back in there slots. Also, some grommets were ripped off that kept all of those pieces connected. And last but not least, the entire front end from the hood down looks it sags now.
The moral of this story: Avoid tire treads in the road!

You are correct. My license will become valid with no restrictions when the clock strikes midnight on November 12. I am not counting down or anything.
sorry to hear about that man, and ya i see those freaking tire treads all the time on the highway. It explains a lot when you see a semi with 2-4 tires per a side. If anything happens they just drive along since they have all the other tires to stabilize the car.
and how did you lose your license again?
