Most do it for when they go to shows and they don't want bugs all over after they cleaned it and protect from rocks etc. on the highway. I used to do it with my Accord that I showed.

Protects from chips... I mainly used it for bugs since I washed the car before driving to the show.. then just have to remove tape and touch up... only tape that works good is the Blue 3m anything else leaves glue.

Lol I don't understand how people discover this stuff. Seriously, if I decided to put tape on my car to protect and it left glue, I probably wouldn't try another brand lol.

Oh and if you anyone has pics of cars covered in tape glue they would be greatly amusing

No pics ... I never used any other brand...a friend in my car club put me on to it. I wouldn't be daring enough to put tape all over my car first ... If you use duck/duct tape that would be one hell of a project!

Well, the blue 3m masking tape is hardly tape, since it's for masking paint trims, it doesn't have all the glue, making the ideal for the car.
