are people doing a DIY on painting their headlight housings black in this forum?

or is it the fact everytime i see a fit on this forum with black housings, it's because they are real JDM headlights which are only available on the JDM fits or if you do a JDM front conversion for usdm fit?

 

i believe most people want to save money and either diy like i did or spend what $300 for nhbp headlights. i believe the jdm ones are around that price? not sure

Yes there are actually a couple. The easiest one to find is from smiester. If you find one of his posts you can click on his signature and it takes you to his blog and tells you how to do it. Im to scared to do mine so i will prob just shell out the money for black ones. Im worried about water leaks after putting it back together.

 

Is there a place online to buy the nhbp headlamps?

I'm scared mine are gonna fog up if I take them apart

Well, I figure you've got the option of selling your originals after you install the nhbp ones.

I hear you on being a bit nervous about it though - I'm thinking about trying the hid retrofit down the road on my silver lights if black lights aren't enough.

 

when i blacked out the headlights on my EM2 civic, i had moisture in them. I later bought some clear silicon sealant and went around all of the edges of the headlight lense and it solved the problem.

 

there is no risk involved if you use a hair dryer instead of the oven.

 

i think the resion people use the oven is to evenly melt the glue, if you use a hair dryer by time you get around to the other side the glue will be hardened on the side you started (glue or what ever thay use on them)

 

i used smeister's DIY thread. Worked great! No leaks and its been through a couple car washes and some downpours
also, this was my first time tearing apart headlights

yeah, i'm gonna do this. i mean if i have the balls to cut in my car for sidemarkers, i should have the balls to do this to.. haha.

 

why not just get a set of lights from a black fit ? are they not colour matched to all the fits ?

junk yard maybe ?

i will be doing this mod ,but figured junk yard or something for others that dont want to go through all this would be a idea
