Bad News

The North American Fit has a completely different front end ( hood, fenders, headlights, front bumpercap and even bumper support and car mounted rad support). This is right from A&J racing. You could order North American black headlights.

Below you can see the extreme differences between the two radiator support and hood latches. The NA Fit hood latch is positioned way far forward.

At least street-wise, you can forget about getting the JDM headlight housing for the US-market Fit. The reason is simple: the front turn signal lights are integrated into the headlamp housing, something you don't see on the JDM Fit or the Honda Jazz models sold almost everywhere else in the world.

Basically, you're changing the whole front end.

There may be black housing headlights for the NA Fit if there's demand for it as I'm sure there's some company (Depo) that would make them

I wonder if the build for the NA Fit goes in the direction of the full model change that's coming up... at least the under the skin, part. It's just hard for me to imagine that they would make so many changes, just for us, without it being part of the bigger direction for the car, in the future.

Actually its not really that big of a deal for them to do cosmetic changes like that. There are no changes to the chassis from what we can tell. They did the same exact thing with the DC2 Integra back in the early 90's. Most of the changes are just different body panels. Then the radiator support and bumper reinforcement bar.

I think the new generation fit coming out will be based an all new larger chassis. That way it will be compatible with the world market.

I've heard that Honda will keep the second-generation Fit almost the same size as the current car, mostly because of consideration for Japanese and European markets where narrower-width cars offer both excise tax advantages and also ease of driving and parking in the narrow streets of Japanese and European cities. Of course, the car will have the full ACE safety design structure, and the engines will likely be a new 1.5-liter engine in i-DSI and SOHC i-VTEC versions (the latter being aimed specficially for the North American market).

Looks like the painted part is hard plastic, if so, it would melt if you bake it.

Oh yea, baking (take apart housing) is the method they use for S2000's and Acura's for that DIY mod.

Yeah, I was thinking of the same thing; just get headlights for NBP. Each headlight cost $189.15 from collegehills.

There have been many cars where this is the case, especially if the US market is NOT considered at the time of design. When it is, things work out well, why there is not a big nose on the Mini. Others require full changes to the car, the 1995-2001 Geo Metro was a US-Canada only car, the rest of the world got the same basic Suzuki Swift from 1989 until two years ago built in Japan and Hungary.

I have owned several US spec cars with horrid bumpers and/or US only noses, my old 1987 Renault Medallion comes to mind. The French R21 was much cleaner.
