Metra 40-HD10 Antenna Adapter Question
Metra 40-HD10 Antenna Adapter Question
I recently installed an aftermarket HU on my Fit Sport. It is having a lot of static when I am listening to FM radio. I wonder I hooked it up correctly or not. On the Metra 40-HD10 antenna harness, besides the regular antenna cable, there is another wire. I connected it to the HU wire labelled "antenna power supply". Did I do it correctly?
I remember seeing one thread somewhere saying the GE antenna has a power booster. And I thought that is what the wire for and that is why I connected the way I described.
I had the same question while installing mine. From what I understand, the wire on the car side harness that says "antenna" is a signal wire for power extension, and only provides momentary power. The antenna power on the HU side provides constant power when the HU is on. This could vary depending on your HU though, so YMMV.
If in doubt, you could always wire the antenna power lead to the 12volt acc line (red on the car side harness I think), which would power the antena whenever the car is on.
