09 fit sport stereo upgrade

Well after 6 months I finally got some of my old system into the fit.
Eclipse 8053
Eclipse Ipod IPC-106 adapter
Boston Acoustics S65RC speakers up front
Phoenix Gold ZX-450 v2 amp Front channel powering speakers and rear bridged to subwoofer
Infinity perfect 10 in a ported box

I will get pics up eventually. The whole process took me about 5 hours to get done and the payoff is great. I forgot what it was like to have descent tunes in the car.

Thanks! Yeah I have basically been swapping out my system into different cars since about 1994. I have another zx-350 which normally would power the sub along with a Phoenix eq215x but in the fit there really is no room and I am in outside sales so lugging stuff all around so I need the room.

Old school Phoenix gold's are built like tanks. I have pushed those things for years and only had to send back the zx350 for new RCA's once in a 14 year span. No one makes things that well anymore.

Yeah, I have been collecting PG amps/processors since the mid-90s. Great amps!

Two questions:

Did you have the Standard Sport audio system, or did you get the Sport w/navigation?

Also, how do you like your Fit Sport?

I was supposed to pick up my '09 Fit Sport w/nav yesterday, but the dealer is over 100 miles away (I know the owner) and I couldn't get away from one of my businesses!

Now, I've been thinking about how Honda sucks for not making the navigation system satellite ready, and it being Bluetooth-challenged! What bonehead decided that? I'm now faced with the decision on whether to go with nav & VSA. (VSA should be [at least] an option for ALL models... again, BONEHEADS!) I'm basically second guessing myself right now, and it's putting a damper on my entire purchase decision.

I want the VSA, but I would rather have a satellite ready audio option. I really like the double DIN Pioneer systems. My wife has one... it's very nice. Features are great.

Anyway... enlighten me, please, Grasshooper?
why not just get the non nav sport and do a new deck with all the features u want?

I must admit I really like my fit. In the past two years for work cars I have had this esteemed list:
Mercury Sablen - hated it
Ford Fusion - solid car
Ford Taurus x - roomy but a gas hog
and a 2000 prelude as a fun car - I miss my baby

I have put about 15000 miles on the fit since buying and couldn't be happier. The super flexible interior (magic seats), the great fuel economy, the ability to park places others cant fit really make it worth it to me. The cost of ownership is very low and maintenance is dirt cheap (its a honda)

The only two negatives I have with the car are the seats on long drives are not that comfortable. The seat cushion that you sit on isn't long enough. The other thing is that it came with no sunroof. Those are really small issues though.

As far as choices on your car, do you really need vsa? I would just go with a sport with no navi (which is what I own) and then add your own so you have exactly what you want. I have a portable GPS that works great for me. I don't need anything too fancy as far as stereo goes just sound quality, but everyones priorities differ. Good luck on purchasing the fit. Its a fun to drive practical car.

answer to questions

AC? I haven't had a problem with the AC. It is on par with my old prelude (last honda I owned) and with the Taurus X and Merc Sable. The AC in my old Ford Fusion really was good. I would also say that it is actually better than in our BMW which isn't very good in my opinion. As with all AC's though it works better when you are driving vs. stop and go traffic.

Bad Weather? We actually had a few winter storms here in Baltimore when I first got it and I was amazed at how well it got through snow, ice and sleet. Front wheel drive on fairly skinny tires means pretty good bad weather handling. In the rain it performs as a small hatch fwd should. Predictable

Too stiff? I would say it is sprung on the stiffer side but then again what isn't these days. Go drive a new accord and you will be amazed at how stiff they are. Compared to our zhp and my old prelude it is really soft but those are bone rattling stiff. Do I feel it driving in the city over pot holes and expansion joints? Yes, but it is not to bad. The trade off is well worth it on the way it handles overall.

There you go.

Very nice setup. Might I ask where you got the double din surround piece as that seems to be the limiting factor with the non nav fits. I know that the nav unit is a double din so Im guessing that part was avaiable from honda?

I might add a different Cd player down the road or just swap the pioneer tv from my corolla into the fit since I use the fit more.
