Lightbulb New owner of 2008 Sport - maintenance plus ?

Hello everyone,

I am the new owner of a nice orange 08 Sport AT with a mere 12,000 miles. Yes it really was driven by a little old lady. Into something requiring new front fenders and bumper. And into whatever was near the lower right side. And into a low hanging tree or garage door.
I had it checked by a mechanic and body shop and except for cosmetic scrapes - including 3 of 4 aluminum wheels - it is in great condition.

We will be driving through several states from the San Francisco Bay area up to Glacier National Park and I want to be sure it is ready.
Questions:
1. I will change the oil, most likely to full synthetic Mobil 1, and new oil and air filters. What else should I inspect, change now?

2. Considering carrying 2 bicycles on the roof or adding a trailer hitch for a Yakima/Thule carrier hanging off the back. Although the roof seems more versatile once the expense of the basic rack is done, it would be more of a drag on gas mileage and means lifting ~ 25lbs overhead when tired.
Recommendations?

3. Maintenance- Where do you have your Fit serviced in the SF East Bay?

4. I note that H and A has good prices for Honda factory parts. Any shops around my area?

I will try my hand at making a cargo cover after admiring the work of several other members on this forum and not happy to shell out the 120- 170 price of Honda's cover. Let you know how that works out.

Thanks for your help.

Robert
