Thumbs up Attn Fujita Cai Owners

Hi had recently had problems with my CAI along with a couple other people in posts recently about my intake bumping the airbag sensor and disarming it. I didn't want to get rid of it so I did the next best thing, I hacked it. I repositioned the filter down low behind the radiatior and in front of the tranny using the existing piping and cutting about 6 inches from the second bend. I cant put into words the difference! It has a distinctly different sound, more throaty and the throttle response is much crisper.
Its maybe not a short ram but the reduced piping allows quicker engine response and it is getting more direct airflow through the front. I will take some pics if I figure out how to post pics later.

This kind of doesn't surprise me, you've got a lot smaller volume of air to direct than before. Plus, I've heard on a number of occasions that the Fit's engine gets more responsive and has the highest gains if it has only a small "pool" of air to draw from compared to alot like a CAI or almost none w/ a short-ram. This is why chamber intakes like the T1R and the PowerBox make the results they do. Maybe your modded CAI's volume is close to that of a chamber intake now.

what CAI are you using. my FUJITA haven't give me any problems so far after over 3 months but my only concern is the hydrolock since i'm lowering my front 1.5", rear 1.9". should i even be concern w/this setup and is it a good thing for me to hack my CAI 6"

Pics for sure - especially if it seems like you are getting better response/power now...

I'm really tempted to do this because I don't like the response form my CAI. It almost seems like its bogged down until about 1500 RPM. I just want to know where to make the cut.

BUMP!!!!!! Need some pics so I do this right.
Are you cutting basically 6 inches off the end of the pipe where the filter mounts? Or are you completely removing the lower bend altogether so the filter cone is pointing down instead of horizontal? Details details details... I want more throttle response!
