I will update this post with another video later to show which wires to tap for the turn signal lights.

Is this the same process for the GD and GE? Are the signal wires in the GD housing on the USDM models? This looks like a great and fairly easy mod. +1 rep

Real nice job. You do some nice work. And the video production with the high speed over the slow parts is pretty neat.

He has already added the winker covers so that will be the wires he will be connecting to. Wait for the video -)

I am wondering if anyone has taken a Canadian mirror apart to see if the arrow can be place on the rear as we have heated mirrors.

Another good DIY Jephu

GARUDA LED

They're wide angle, blue tint (to reduce glare), have the turn signal on the glass, and they're HEATED... Alpina found them, gonna order me a set as soon as I can.

The removal and the install of the LED should be the same for GD and GE. Only thing that might be different is the OEM turn signal positive wires.

Full DIY install should be up this weekend.

You should be able to install these on heated mirrors. I've done it on other cars before that has heated mirrors.

Those are pretty cool!!.. If I lived somewhere where I would need heated mirrors I will look into that instead of doing the $5 led arrow mod. Do you happen to know how much shipping cost are for those?

$105 + what is the shipping cost?

^^ My best guess would be no more than ~$50 or so... not sure exactly though.

When I purchase mine I'll be buying them through rakuten (along with a bunch of other stuff to save on shipping), and forwarding them thru tenso (there's a thread on here on how to do that). That should probably be a little cheaper than going thru yahooauctions directly.

yep goin thru yahooauctions can be expensive. the service fee for buyee.com (subsidiary of tenso) is much more than tenso itself.

>>> So the heating element is buried in the glass usually? I am enjoying our DIYs.

>>> Is that $105 US dollars? Yikes. I will add the arrows and get my mirrors tinted maybe.

You will need to extend the wires.

Check out my Winker mod video.. it will show you how to route the wires and where to tap for power.

And I would suggest if going to the trouble to install the arrows then spend a bit and do the winkers at the same time.

On the Canadian Fits the wiring is in the harness. There is a small plug to use. It is one the same circuit as the rear window defroster.

This mod should work with both heated and non heated mirrors. Installation will be exactly the same except on the heated mirror ones you would have to lift the heated element away the glass backing.

Black3sr, has heated mirrors and has done this mod. He has not reported any problem with the installation of led arrows on his mirrors.

I peeled the heating elements back and put the arrows underneath. Now I have not had occasion to try them but come first frosty morning I will. At worst they may burn through an arrow wire. I will then decide whether i want to keep the arrows or disconnect the heating elements.

OK i agree, but just think i.e. one day in the morning Montreal -35 °C, if one part of the glass doesn't heated uniform (the whole glass at the same temperature) your mirror may break, that's why my comment.

If it is -35C I ain't going anywhere.

The arrows are not that big that I doubt if there will be that much temp dif, besides there will be heat all the way around the arrows. We will see. In the meantime I love the arrows, especially at night.

Go Habs
