Update on the '13 Fit trade in for the '14 Accord with CVT

So a few months ago I posted about being rearended in the Fit, and not being able to get used to driving it once it had been completely repaired. I traded it in for the '14 Accord LX with the CVT transmission. Some people here were curious about the new Fit with the CVT, but I would advise you all wait and read what people have to say about those after driving them at least 10K miles, before you decide to buy.

My accord was very smooth the first 3K miles. I love the car, its perfect for me, roomy enough to feel save with my daughter in it. But by 4K miles it started sputtering and jolting at all speeds, no matter what gear its in. There's supposedly a lower valve body replacement that can be done, but that doesn't always solve that issue. I hate to admit it, but I wouldn't be sad if something happened to this car. I will not be buying another car with the CVT transmission in it.

CVT Blues

Sorry about the Accord CVT problem! Honda generally gets high marks for their CVT's, but I'm just not sure about them...I'm still a manual type guy,or at least a regular auto. I thought about getting an Accord coupe/6 speed, but for some reason, Honda limits my color choice to BLACK & Black!!! So I guess I'm "Fit" for now!!

Hmm, I wondered why I was seeing so many black ones, ha ha. Its funny, if you look up that Mercedes one that's over $100K, the color choices are a lot of different shades of black, and just a few other colors. Made me think of Sprocket.

Some people have the CVT and don't care about the sputtering, or it drives smoothly, but I am not one of them, unfortunately.

What has the dealer said about the issue?

Honda CVT's were one of the better ones supposedly so this is surprising

Waizzz, they have a lower valve body replacement at the ready, I just have to take it in. They know half the CVTs need that, so its not a big deal. I'm going to get that taken care of at my first oil change.

I have a '14 Accord EX 4 cyl with the CVT. I have about 7K miles on it and no judder, shudder, etc. I mainly use it for commuting and road trips, 85% highway, and average 36 MPG per fuelly. I find it comfortable and quiet with plenty of room, but a bit low to enter/exit. My wife's Fit is easier to enter/exit, has a great driving position, is a lot more fun to drive around town, and can carry larger cargo items.
