Need some advice: selling a modified 2012 Fit Sport

The car is in good shape, 49k miles, automatic transmission. However I had a class 1 hitch and bike rack installed. I would like to sell the car in the next couple months since I don't need it anymore (moved from suburb area to NYC), and I won't need a car for the next few years. I was wondering if the modification would make the car more attractive to a buyer, or reduce the price, or if it's best to remove them? I've never sold a car before...KBB says it's worth around 12k if you ignore the hitch.

Thanks everyone.

I'd pull the hitch if you still have the factory skid blocker that came off when the hitch was installed and eBay the hitch and rack as a pair for about 125 bucks. If not leave it on and make sure the bike rack is on it when someone looks at the car.
I don't think it drops the value but it doesn't raise it either.. For most folks..
Its a "oh thats nice" thing if they bike..

the hitch isnt really going to help or hurt your sale. depending on which rack you have, you could sell it quicker on its own. not sure i would buy a second hand hitch, or if it would be worth the time to take it off and sell it for $50 or so?

If I were buying, I'd generally consider a hitch a slight positive. Selling the bike rack separately is probably a good move financially, though.

A dealer probably wouldn't give two hoots either way.

If I were buying I'd want to know if you pulled heavy stuff with the hitch.

private sale it could add some value over kbb, but if ure selling it to a dealer or carmax, take it off, sell separately for best price.

Yep, a hitch can be a negative for most buyers of a small engine car/suv. It would tend to make it look as more strain on the engine.
