Just bought a Fit

So i just bought a fit and it has been amazing! i use to drive a Acura RSX and i never thought honda would make another car that puts a smile on my face again...until i bought this car. Enough of that, I bought the car used its a 2012 and when i bought it only had 1 key. I talked to my local dealer and they said it would cost me 105 plus taxes to get a second key (looking as a preventive move). Is the 105 a good price? you guys know of a website i could get a better price key.

I had to buy an electronic key a few years ago (for a Toyota). I bought one off the Web (I don't recall where) and then got a local automotive locksmith to program it for me. I got a functional key at a lower price than I would have paid through the dealer. You might try something similar.

Congrats on the car! You'll love it.

I've found that keys from honda dealers in my area for the 2012 fit ranged from $69 to $140. (key+remote+cut+program) That 69 wasn't an anomaly either. There was another place that offered a little over 70 for the key.

Try asking around to see if 105 is really the cheapest in your area. They may be even cheaper ones.

Alternatively, you can buy a third party key yourself (ebay, for example) and then have a local locksmith cut and program it for you. I went this route and it cost around ~$45. A little over 10 for the third party key from ebay (looks exactly like the original key aside from lacking the Honda logo) and a little over 30 to get the key cut and programmed.
