Have a base 2013 GE8. Starting to get 'check gas cap' prompt frequently on my dash. I remove it, tighten it to 3-4 clicks. The prompt may or may not go away...for awhile. What's up with this? I can not see anything wrong, and it seems like it's sealing fine, but evidently a chip somewhere disagrees....
Anyone else experience this? Thanks.

 

A common occurrence. Just ignore it and eventually it will go away.

 

Thanks, Black3sr!...vewy nice ride! Thinking the gasket on the cap might be leaking, I called the dealer and asked if they had one. Yup...for $38.00! So I ordered two for $5.84 each online. Even with the totally outta line s/h charge of $10.00, I'm still ahead.

 

Thanks. I think nearly everyone has had the gas cap message. After a few stops and starts is goes away so no need to replace cap. The dealer should have told you that.
