Totaled?

I got in to an accident over the weekend and my dear Topanga is in rough shape. She is still running and the only dashboard light that turned on after the accident is the low tire press light. Nothing under the hood is visably damaged but the car is pretty banged up.

The drivers side air bag deployed.

just because your airbags deployed it might be totalled.

The insurance adjuster will give your "the book" value and assess damage.
The way the fit is built in the front there is a fair amount of damage there..
Both headlights are likely broken underneath, hood, radiator/core support, inner bumper, inner bumper foam, Bumper cover, You may have a bent AC condenser and I would not trust the radiator, there is a bag of small fiddly parts likely needing attention in there as well. If the air bag popped it will need that + a new air bag controller usually, and maybe a sensor or two.. You always have the option of taking the insurance money and buying the car back and having it fixed at a privateer small shop. But remember that once its wrecked, getting it back to 100% perfect is unlikely..

I would guess that would be considered a total loss by insurance, though it's not too easy to say for sure from the picture (and I'm certainly no insurance adjuster). If it were my car, I would probably hope for it to be totaled after that sort of damage, to be honest, as it looks to me that it's possible that the front end of the frame may be a bit tweaked and, if so, the alignment may never be quite right afterwards.

Body Shops can do amazing things.
It's going to come down to cost.

I think it could be a close call. But I'm going to say it get's totaled.

Insurance companies are all zombified by lawyers, like everything else in the US today. They will write it off as totaled it in a heartbeat. Sorry for your loss and troubles. I hope you get back to normal soon.

that sucks, sorry to see. as xxryu mentioned, the airbags being deployed is the biggest factor. those things cost an arm and a leg to replace.

if it is a total i suppose take it as opportunity to get an updated ride.
