Totaled 09 Fit Sport

My sons Fit was totaled yesterday. He was heading to work, going about 35 to 40 mph on a four lane road with a middle turn lane (5 lanes). He was traveling on the outside lane traveling west, and a vehicle facing east was sitting in the middle turn lane. Traffic was fairly heavy, and the vehicle sitting in the turn lane attempted a U-turn just as my son approached that area. My sons Fit hit that vehicle in the front fender passenger-side area, with the impact occurring on my sons driver-side front. The impact sent his car (Fit) to the right, made the Fit lift up on the drivers side, slid and skidded, impacted the outside road curve which then probably grabbed the front passenger-side tires and continued to flip the car onto the roof. The drivers door would not open, and my son exited out of one of the rear doors.

No injuries, but the Fit looks like it went through a garbage disposal. The other car had a small dent in the fender. A good Samaritan witnessed the accident, took photos, helped him get out of the car, find his phone, talked to the cops, and drove him home. The guy has insurance, but is still not returning phone calls to our mutual insurance company in order to accept responsibility.

My son liked his car, but I won't miss it. Bad paint, which was fixed, an almost blowned out spark plug, very small car feel, etc. It was well maintained, with excellent tires, new battery, tune-up, valve adjustment, etc, and I transferred the title to him just last week for a cost over $350. That sucks.

Sorry about his/your luck, but very happy to hear he's ok. For such a small car, they do better than you'd think in an accident.

Would love to see some pics if you get a chance. Who doesn't like carnage?

So glad your son wasn't hurt!
I totaled my 2010 Fit Oct 20th when someone ran a stop sign and drove right in front of me. She had a PT Cruiser the front passenger fender and panel were smashed, my Fit looked horrible. Airbags did not deploy, my only injury was a bruise from the seat belt. I must say my Fit gave her life for me.

Get the police report and send it to your insurance. Have your insurance go after the other party.

I just got a new HR-V. So many wonderful new safety features
