Which Trim Level to go?
Which Trim Level to go?
I am about to traded my ultra low milage 2013 BMW X5 35d for a fit due to some financial difficulties. Dealer introduce me to the new "Sport" Trim since I want manual and heated seats also fog lights. I wonder if the extra $1000 worth it for this amount of goodies (i think he mentioned there is a body kit included too) or I should just go with a LX trim instead. Thanks.
This was the most well laid out site I found about the information you're looking for.

Depends on you. What you want, and your budget.
You are kind of looking at extremes here.
Hope you aren't getting ripped off on the trade in.
I have a 2016 EX...and I like it.
But what you pay for "goodies" are usually really only worth it...if it's worth it to you.
I generally think Fit's are better values, in the more spartan trims.
In the end you drive off the lot in basically the same vehicle. In the end...you're getting from point A to point B, basically the same.
But if you really want the "goodies"? Then you want them.
I love my moonroof....it's worth it to me.
The push button start?
I keep hearing about problems with the starter. I kind of wish I had just a regular turn key ignition.
I'm holding my breath for a long term failure eventually.
If I had to do it over?
I probably would look at the LX.
Then quietly be disappointed I didn't have a moonroof.

The basic amenities of an LX are pretty dang good. If you want the other options on the sport, go for it. Since you're looking to do the trade because of finances then, maybe it's worth forgoing them though. Either way, the car will get you from A to B.
Heated seats and mirrors are a must have in cold climates. I wish I could get a heated steering wheel. Loved that in my X3. The Fit is a good vehicle imo, and getting a higher trim just makes the drive better for me. I see no reason to skimp and get a lower trim if you can afford the cost. My 2015 EXL is great, but I wish I had gone up to the Navi I have not had any trouble with push button start, although the print on the button seems to be fading quickly. I really like comfort access, and the ability to lock and unlock all the doors using the button on the liftgate.

I heard there are a lot of fun way to have a fit( went to test drove the fit, saw a type R they even let me try that, told me if I really bought the fit will got a type R shift knob for free....). The only thing throw me off on the fit is the seat, which isn't that comfortable I'm considering to replace it with a Recaro product.
My bimmer is troublesome which now turns into a money pit . I drove the fit and I loved it.
don't really care about the moonroof since this will be my main 150km/day commute vehicle.
the only thing I'm concern is if I'm able to put kayak on my roof and having a bike rack mounted in the back.
got almost no discount for a 2018 fit. Which is pretty sad.

I have been told I can have a lot of fun with the fit by mod it and it can also be a reliable commute vehicle, which my bimmer isn't since it keep stranding me on the side of the road.
I think I'll take the sport. It's 800 buck difference and I get some useless body kit and a leather wrapped steering wheel and for lights.
One note is that the Fit is a very low car, only 5.5" to the standard bumper. This might be a concern with Montreal's winters. Here in Toronto i have no issues, but sometimes I wish for a bit more clearance. The sport might have less clearance. You might get a lot of ice hitting lower skirts.
Heated seats can be bought aftermarket and removeable, just plug it into the 12v socket. I am not a fan of the touch screen. But these are all up to you. I have a DX, 6MT, and I like it.

I don't think there's a huge difference in the ground clearance. But it will be less (much less) than an SUV. Winter tires can help.
Seems you are going MT, hope you get that Type R shift knob! Every MT Honda I had, I bought an Acura RSX billet aluminum knob for -- way better feel, looks cool, available in either 5 or 6 speed. A cheap and fun upgrade

overall I love this car this should be a little fun project car also it can be my great great great reliable that he driver that wants training me on the side of the road almost every 3-4 days because of the stupid battery is dead or alternator is not working or either there's something wrong with electronic shifter that won't shift into give this is my first automatic car and this will be my last automatic car.
I don't really worry about it winter in ground clearance since first if I replace it with coilovers I might go to adjust the heights to make it a little higher or probably Remain the factory Heights in Winter and lower in summer for better performance also I always run winter tires and I probably going to run some performance winter tires just because for better grip that's what I do is my BMW are using on run-flat tires for winter also the Montreal street because of how much tax we pay the show a pretty well so I don't really worry about that I'm living in apartment complex having underground parking spot and also where I work also have a parking spot that's underground and heated too.
