New idler pulley - Febest 0387-GD

My idler pulley at 168k had started to make a metal on metal whirring sound that got louder the faster it spun. I looked around at different aftermarket pulleys and some didn't allow you to use the original dust shield. I took a chance on the $14 Febest part since the pictures looked very similar to the Honda part. It's dimensionally the same as the original Honda part only difference I can see is the new bearing is Chinese and the original was made by NSK in Japan. Dust cover fit perfectly. Reinstallation was tricky as there's limited hand room to hold the pulley in place and turn the bolt to get the threads started. Would have been nice to have had a second pair of hands. Now I can hear my valves tapping again.

Let's Russians use Febest on their second hand German cars. If you can't get idler from Honda just get the bearing (now American made bearings are available on the market, not as precision like Japan made but very durable) and replace just the bearing.
Bearing 6203 with 17mm bore

Would have been nice to have saved even more money over the Honda pulley, but I didn't have the time to remove the pulley and take it somewhere to have the new bearing pressed in. NSK made the original Honda bearing stamped JAPAN -- NSK now has manufacturing operations in CHINA. I wonder where the bearings are made in the current Honda pulleys...

At my work I've bought NTN bearing for an electric motor and it's made in the USA. The same size bearing that fits Honda pulley is SKF brand made in Argentina (old purchase)
I use bench vise and large sockets for bearing replacement
