NOt to sure, but either the 15-16th weekend or the 29-30th weekend.

I'm suggesting the later, gives us more time to relax and prepare. the 8-9th is not a good idea because leandro can't make it that weekend.

I'll see how me and Ciburri set it up, and see if Bob and Dave can make those days too.

Anthony-
Any day is OK with me. And when you mention "Bob", if you mean Bap from Roseville, his name is Blake. Your idea of bringing a trailered barbeque to cook BBQ ribs sounds great, but extravagant. Let us know what kind of financial help you will need, and what kind of side dishes to bring. I'll bring another tub of potato salad (Costco's brand is very good). Baked beans would also go well with ribs, but we will need a way to heat them.

Dave

Guys some more info on proposed location!
Anthony(CuTeBoi) and I drove up and down Mt.Diablo for hours on Saturday looking for cool spot. BBQ Terrace is the nicest set up, but costs $111 per night since it is really a night camp site. Chances are it is reserved. My guys in the area wonted to go camping and contacted every single place they could think of in the area. They are all booked until end of September.
What Anthony and I stumbled across is secluded daytime picnic area that one mountain biker who lives in the area claims nobody ever comes to because it is almost hidden. IN PLAIN SITE, THOUGH! It is called Artist Point. Name throws everybody off I guess, since it does not state a camp site or picnic area.
It has nice recently paved 12-15 car parking lot and a road to it. Right above it has two benches and a built in BBQ. Above that is an open plateau with another 6-7 benches and about 3-4 built in BBQ pits. There are two rest rooms on site. Not as nice as your home's, but decent enough even for woman. No punt intended to the ladies, just stating my wife's opinion.
There are multiple water taps of drinkable water all over the place. There is plenty of shade as well as sun. Bring some lawn chair like I am planing on and you will love it!
I will bring a large tub with bags of ice for cooling drinks as well as meat as I stated previously. Some side dishes and more meat (chicken, ribs, steaks, chops,....)for BBQ would be nice. Dave, potato salad and beans are great idea! We can heat beans up in a pan over a BBQ. Some veggies would be nice. Mushrooms with some salt and butter are a real treat. I have 3 pans with holes for heating up veggies and we used them a lot with great success many times. Bell peppers, red onions, broccoli,.... Add olive oil and some salt and pepper and you will forget about meat, I guarantee you!
Decent quality paper plates and plastic utensils would be great. My wife and I will bring some paper towels and larger knives, some dishes,.....

Tetsurin, do not worry about uphill drive! There are no uphill stops! Entire way up to the site. Only one above our site if you go all the way up to the summit and that one is almost flat, too.
Anthony has ton of pictures and I recorded a video of the site with a digital photo camera. Video is a bit jittery, but hey it is not a video camera with an image stabilizer! It is plenty good enough for you to see it and get great idea of the site. Best of all it is free after $6 entrance fee to the park. I will get there early on the morning of the meet and get as annoying as it takes if anybody else shows up! LOL!
I will post up the video tonight thanks to Anthony's expertise! Thanks Anthony!
It is time to set a date everybody could attend. We have 10 people so far interested.
I will post up separate post where you can copy/paste yourself and put a weekend date YOU CAN'T ATTEND! We are shooting for end of September so everybody has enough time to plan ahead.
Hope to see as many of you as possible there!

Well, sounds good! I'm in, I'll bring the plates and utensils. Like leandro82, I can't do the 8/9th, as that's my mom's bday weekend, but any other than that and it should be okay for me. Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Please add/delete yourself and put dates YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO MAKE IT!
This way we can pick a weekend most if not everybody will be able to attend.
Dates in the game are September 22/23 or 29/30.
Saturday might be better if that can give people time on Sunday for church services or other family planed events. Keep that in mind.
Maps and direction will be posted soon. Nearest city is Danville and San Ramon of FWY 680 north of interchange with FWY 580.
Everybody is welcome! Bring your family. It is not about hard core racers talking horsepower! It should be a family fun for everybody. There is a lot to see up Mt. Diablo. On a clear day after rain you can see SF and Golden Gate(we easily saw them on Saturday through the haze). All the way up to Oregon border to the north and as far south as Grapevine!

1.Ciburri(3-4people)-open all dates
2.CuTeBoi
3.manxman
4.EXWRX
5.Elem3nt
6.bernardio
7.TOOL
8.leandro82-Sept. 8/9 busy

Anthony and Ivan,

You guys are doing a great job in planning this. I suggest that anyone who comes should bring something to share. The side dishes that we bring will depend upon how many total people are serious about coming. In other words, should I bring Bush Baked Beans to feed 10 people or 25?

This same question will apply to anyone bringing a main meal ingredient. For people bringing drinks, chips, cookies, etc., you don't need to bring enough to feed an army.

In our last meet there were only 3 cars and 5 people, and more food than we needed. That will probably be true for this new meet as well, so I suggest that people bring food/drinks that they like and will use if they have to bring some back home with them.

I also urge other members to respond to member Wagonist in his thread suggesting a regular Fit Meet for Bay Area fitfreaks. He is suggesting Redwood City at a Malibu Grand Prix franchise.

Ivan, if you need help with ingredients for the kabobs, let me know. I buy my meat from Costco, which means I buy a lot at one time. Chicken, beef, pork, whatever you need- let me know, but of course how much you need depends upon how many people are coming.

More info as promissed!

Mt.Diablo official brochure link: California State Parks

FYI: Our site is reached through Live Oak picnic area just north of the South Gate of the park.
Please read both PDF files from the link. It will give you rules of the park.
I can only add to them that you need to obey speed limit or go slower if you are not planing to "collect" a cyclist or two. Horses and other animals, too. Hikers as well. Keep in mind that they all have right of way over a motor vehicle! Beside you won't see a thing if you do not loosen up a grip on that steering wheel! Stay in your lane!
No alcohol as per park rules and for the sake of our memebers Last thing anybody needs is a DUI or worse!!! I am not planing on being an enforcer, but I do not think that WE will have any problems asking anybody to leave either. This is intended to be a whole family affair. Relaxing and fun.

It is also an oportunity for some of you to network. If you think that you can offer fellow members some kind of helpfull service, bring your cards. I am sure we would all preffer to do business with somebody we are familiar with instead of opening Yellow Pages. Just be sensible.

Here is the video guys: ImageShack® - ciburri's videos

Dave, you are right about food. Let's see how many people can actually commit to this before we split on who brings what and in what volume.

I hope we can gather as many members as possible from all over NorCal.
Guys and gals, lets just have fun.

Please copy/paste sign up list from earlier post with dates you are not able to attend and add your name if you are not listed.

Suggestions? Comments? Ideas? Preferences? Feel free!

Ivan, thanks for the new info. Member "grouser" will probably join the group, based on recent posts on the old "Proposed Big Bay Area Fit Meet" on the Sacramento sub forum.

Your video was a good illustration of the features of the site you and Anthony picked- looks perfect for our needs. My wife is a hospital nurse who works every weekend and can't come with me, so I will be there early to help set up.

Good work!

Sure it's cool to bring your dad- as Ciburri said, this is for families to have fun.

Race? I did not know we were racing? I just saw you blasting by an Audi S4 to a point where poor guy felt so humiliated he had to go after you! LOL!

I can't get your link to work. Please send me some images as jpeg's to my Yahoo e-mail. Or just bring me a CD to the meet if it is easier for you. What ever works. I am craving for some in motion shots! Thanks Anthony!

Avatar is really cute, as long as baby does not poop on that Honda badge! LOL! Love it! Signature is so cool as is blurred! Gives it a sense of speed and drama. Very cool! BTW, you have been off the forum for few days. You must be working your ass off day and night judging by some posts you made! Good luck Anthony!

TOOL, I am delighted that you will be able to make it and bring your dad. He will feel right at home. We will have the youngest, one of the oldest members and everything else in between in our meet! Isn't that great!!!!

Unlike one of our (for the moment) current members who managed to insult middle age, seniors, female gender, African -American's, obese people and everybody else who works for living and supports a family, all in one sentence, I am delighted that this car attracts such a wide consumer demography! No wonder Honda does not even bother to advertise Fit. There is no need! The car sells itself! I encountered numerous seniors driving a Fit and we exchanged waves and ton of smiles in the process. Great stuff!

Dave, I am delighted grouser will be able to make it. I was about to PM him to see if he can make it when I saw your post on this and old meet thread.

It is absolutely awesome people from quite some distance are planing on coming! Thank you all!
If we can just have all of them give us a bit more commitment than that by pasting their name to our list, so we know on how many to count for food and drink equation!

Guys, please check with your significant others and families and paste your name to the list. Maybe we should add a number next to our names with a quantity of people we intend to bring with us? That will make it easier to plan for amount of food and drinks.

It will be a great day at a great location with great food and even greater people! Can't wait!

I'm really looking forward to meeting up with all of you. I can bring just about anything. Soda, Brauts, or whatever. I'll probably bring my daughter along as well, unless she's too busy with her friends to spend time with dear old dad.
