Red Light Cameras
Red Light Cameras
I hope this becomes a STICKY so that we have on-going and up-to-date information about red light cameras in Southern California.
My information regarding current law and law enforcement is not recent, but the last I heard, City of Los Angeles had discontinued the use of red light cameras. Can anyone verify this?
City of Beverly Hills appears to be actively using red light cameras. In fact, last night I noticed what appeared to be newly-installed red light cameras at the intersection of Doheny and Wilshire. Be advised.
I'm against red light cameras because I think they are dangerous and lead to poor driving. I am also against them because I dislike getting tickets.
If you have knowledge of red light cameras, pleased add it to this thread.

IMHO, the system will be more liked if it will issue low cost ticket to the car's plate that will not go to the record (similar to parking ticket) Some people may argue that running a red light running is a moving violation, but parking violation is also initiated by a driver who parked a car at the wrong spot (unless the car drove itself to this place
If long truck (semi) or bus did not clear the intersection before light turned red, the camera turns on and captures all drivers on the intersection, even these who entered it on the yellow light (which is legal) but did not clear YET the intersection once the light changed to red (this is not a violation as long as the car entered on the yellow AND is moving). I afraid that in this case everyone may get a ticket, especially if city needs money. It also takes a lot of headache and time off work to fight the ticket, even if it was issued in the error. The drivers of the camera town may wear niqab to avoid identification and conviction. One middle aged lady had her photo taking after facial treatment and she went to court without the makeup hoping to get ticket dismissed; to bad she forgot about her goiter so she was identified and convicted.

Thanks, doc. Good info.
I think this thread can still be useful because we can post the most current information as we get it (from being in our cars and on the road all the time). A lot of stuff on the Internet is undated or out of date.
"Snitch tickets"? Don't you love it? Who thought that one up?
