Walkie Talkies for Fit Meets
Walkie Talkies for Fit Meets
One of the things that is lacking during our socal meets is communication. When i used to roll in Chicago, everyone one of us had walkie talkies. It's a great way to warn people of cops, asshole drivers, or inform others when they are falling behind. I suggest, especially for the mega meet, that people invest in one of the these. Not all walkie talkies are compatible so i suggest getting one that's from the same manufacturer. We'll have to decide as a group specifically which one to buy. One of the cheapest, well depending on which model, is the Motorola Talkabout. Each model has different ranges anywhere from 5 miles, 8 miles, 12 miles, 16 miles, 25 miles. Of course the longer the range, higher the price. I don't recommend the 5 mile range because when people are getting on the highway and others fall behind at the light, you can cover 5 miles in a short amount of time and would be out of range.
So what do you say guys, wanna do this or what? If so lets start nominating which model and post up prices. Lets give it a deadline before the mega meet that way people will have a chance to get their hands on one of these. How about the 23 of Feb? If you find something you like, post the place, the model, range, price. Remember, if they come in pairs, you can split the cost with someone.
From bestbuy:
Motorola Talkabout FV700R
Range: 12 miles
Price: $49.99 (pair)

you dont have to buy the same one. they come with different channels you know.
i already have one, i used to use it during the canyon runs because my cell phone would not work in some areas.
its a really good idea though

I have two older Motorola Talkaobut's (T5100) with their supposed
2 mile radius (shorter than that me thinks) and I have used them on various caravans with excelent results. And for a couple of stunt jobs. The batts dont last that long though. (easily enough for a day still)
Its a good Idea, I know nothing about compatibility though (never tried it)
But I would imagine that the same company with same channels/freq on
similar models would be compatible. (do I hear party line...anyone?) hahaa

I didn't say same one, just same manufacturer. I know about channels, that's why i never mentioned it. I've had weird experiences communicating with others with different brands.
