Lets keep it Alive!!!!
Yeah I went to Samy's and tried out the different cameras. I was initially looking at a T1i but the Rebel line doesn't appeal to me. I don't like how they feel lightweight compared to a 50D or 5D Mark II.
I would love a 5D Mark II or 1Ds Mark II but damn, expensive!
Going to start off with a 50mm 1.8 for fun. Then save up for a L lens.

hmm i was going to get the 50D but got the D90 from nikon instead.
Once I started using Canon with my G10 I really liked it. I compared the D90 and 50D and felt the 50D was a better fit for me.
A family friend will be getting the D90 soon though.
I grew up a Nikon guy. My first camera was a N6006 and my dad taught me to shoot on his F4. He still has all his accessories too except for the computer backing on the F4.

yeah me too i grew up a nikon fan boy as well...my dad got me into it. he was like "son, if you get going to get a camera, weather its a point-n-shoot or a hardcore mans camera, it HAS to be nikon." my 1st camera i held was a Nikon N4004-AF back then it was like...around $2,000(1986) professional indeed. my dad recently passed it down to me, it still works. he bought 9 lenses for it, and only found 4...haha

When I finally get my camera I'll show up to the next meet after I get it for some photos. I'm setting up a website to for my personal artsy stuff.
molitrato.com
Nothing there yet.
My web designer(wife) is a little busy at the moment. lol
best $100 you can spend on your camera! fast lens too. Only thing I've read is they only last about a year so i will also save up for a 50mm 1.4
Why only for one year? Do they break easily or what?

the 50mm 1.8 can last longer then year...unless you going backpacking like me and expose it to all kind elements and throw it around and then yes but, you can replace the mount from plastic to metal mount...which I did....plus a use Canon 50mm1.8 is around $30 to $50 in brand new condition.

no....from old unusable ES lens or find one on ebay and replace it ...because the orig. 50mm F1.8 is metal backing the new 1.8 II is the plastic backing.....

if you take good care of your gear.... you should worry about it....for those guy who said their 50mm f1.8II was destroy because they didn't care of their gears because it only cost about 1/10 of the their other lens and their are comparing it to a 2k lens vs $100 lens.... it like Audi A6 vs Honda Accord....
My 50mm F1.8II least me for 1 and half before i sold it and the guy I brought from use it for about year before and was only shoot with that lens only and the guy I sold my is guy I going shooting at our outing....
