Legal or Not? Post if you know. Fit/Car related only.

Want to know if something is legal or not? Know if something is or isn't? Post it here!

Ex.

HID's - ILLEGAL even if retrofitted. You will get away with it more if retrofitted but they still are illegal in the Fit. Exception would be a DOT-SAE approved housing with approved ballast and bulbs.

Clear Corner Running Lights - ILLEGAL. Unfortunatly these are illegal. You are required to have amber/yellow color running lights in the front and red running ligths in the rear.

Tinted Tails - LEGAL with the exception that during daylight hours or when shined on by a light you must be able to see the color of the reflectors as red and white. Brake/Running/Turn lights must be visible through the tint.

Any sticker on the windshield is illegal.

lowering a vehicle. if the center of the headlight falls below a billy club's length (i think 24 inches), you are illegal

sound. If your stereo can be heard farther than 50 feet, you can be cited.

JDM Tails are illegal. They do not have the reflector needed on the side for the vehicle to bee seen at night.

I will think of more that aren't the obvious CARB ones....ps, i have been cited for everything I listed. Not in the fit, but other cars owned

I've had that happen lol. when a cop pulled me over for tints, he told me to take off my spongebob hanging from my tow hook. He just warned me. I don't think they have a citation number for it lol.

Stickers are actually legal in certain spots. U can have a 4" strip across the top as like a visor. U can also have a sticker in the lower passenger side of the windshield.

Stereo.. lmao i remember those days! I got 2 of them, both of them my stereo was heard almost 4 blocks away... true story (in my old EG) But seroiusly, yeah if it's heard more then 50 feet away, its illegal.

this is starting to look like a thread where ppl are just posting up false information.

they dont measure the height of your headlights to determine if it's lowered beyond legal limits. the lowest point of the rim must be the lowest point of the car for safety reasons. V.C. Section 24008 - Modification of Vehicles

clear window tint on the front windows is not illegal in cali. CHP-Frequently Asked Questions of the Highway Patrol

I am posting what I have been ticketed for..........several times and never won in court on. So that to me, isn't false unless the court system itself has a conspiracy against me alone.

additionally, i said STICKER, not clear film...lets not get super technical here. A sticker (to me) is something with a design, yes clear film that stick can be a "sticker"...not what i mean

"The law prohibits any person from driving any motor vehicle with any object or material placed, displayed, installed, affixed, or applied upon the windshield or side or rear windows, with certain limited exceptions."

Yes, there is a limit on heights of headlights:

24400. (a) A motor vehicle, other than a motorcycle, shall be:
(1) Equipped with at least two headlamps, with at least one on each side of the front of the vehicle, and, except as to vehicles registered prior to January 1, 1930, they shall be located directly above or in advance of the front axle of the vehicle. The headlamps and every light source in any headlamp unit shall be located at a height of not more than 54 inches nor less than 22 inches.

and the car itself:
24008.**It is unlawful to operate any passenger vehicle, or commercial vehicle under 6,000 pounds, which has been modified from the original design so that any portion of the vehicle, other than the wheels, has less clearance from the surface of a level roadway than the clearance between the roadway and the lowermost portion of any rim of any wheel in contact with the roadway.

and in new law news:
(12) A portable Global Positioning System (GPS), which may be mounted in a 7-inch square in the lower corner of the windshield farthest removed from the driver or in a 5-inch square in the lower corner of the windshield nearest to the driver, if the system is used only for door-to-door navigation while the motor vehicle is being operated and outside of an airbag deployment zone.

I'm sure will find a zillion more stupid laws as our nanny state government continues to intercede into our private lives (and cars!)

i was referring to solbrothers' statement about window tint, not yours about stickers. and thank you for clarifying fitnin, i see the headlight height does come into play also.
