Wife's FIT is no more...

My wife was going to work yesterday and there was an accident further up the road so everyone stopped including my wife. After 2 minutes of sitting there some lady (not paying attention) ran into my wife doing 80 mph. Chevy Tahoe vs a Honda FIT.... Other driver paniced. Hit gas instead of brakes so that sucks in itself. Other driver had no license, a green card but thankfully insured. Great way to spend my birthday (in the ER) I'll post up pics of the car when I get home.

My wife is ok, I use that mildly since she has severe whiplash but the car did it's job thankfully and she was able to walk away.

It's been fun meeting some of you guys but my wife and I are getting rid of the car even if it gets fixed. Nothing against the FIT but seeing the damage my wife wants a sedan (Honda). I'll have pictures up later today.

Total cost to repair

$6,300

***update***
Wife was off over a month. Back and forth to the ER several times, doctors visits the whole 9. At First the Other car insurance wanted to total the car but only give me $9,000 for it. I (convinced) them to fix the car and provide us with a rental car. Medical bills to date are around 15k. The body shop did an excellent job on the car and says it's safe. Have an appointment with Honda to inspect the car. My wife loves the car but at the same time wants to get rid of it.

Sorry for not updating sooner but I've been working 16 hours a day to supplement the lost income till the Disability kicked in. It finally did but wasn't enough. The car insurance company told me that they can't get a hold of the driver and that she most likely went back to Mexico. Figures....

I didn't take inside shots but basically to give you an idea of how hard it was hit one piece of plastic from the Hatch shot through the car and busted the front windsheild.

OMG that's horrible! But the important part is that your wife is okay!

I'd totally understand getting rid of the Fit after something like that. I wish you both the best.

Good that your wife wasn't badly hurt since it was a high speed crash.

good to hear you guys aren't severely injured. Yes i am a bit afraid now and then at the safety of my Fit. But i figure it may be bad for today's standards but probably decent for older cars

Personally I think surviving an 80mph impact is pretty damn safe. I don't know why everyone is buying into the small car safety hysteria lately.

Just surviving an 80 MPH crash against a Tahoe is exemplary. I want to see pictures. I hope you recover quickly.

Sorry to hear about your wifes accident - that is a major accident being hit by such a large vehicle at a high rate of speed. Very glad that she
was not severely injured and hope you find a car that she will feel good about.

The OP is a really great husband! He must be spending all his time at the hospital and too busy to tend to FF. I'm actually kind of concerned that we haven't heard from him...

sorry guys been dealing with everything lately. The car insurance companies are a PITA. Wife is doing good. Because of the fact she was off of work I took some extra shifts so haven't had much time to do anything. Xfering the pictures now. Got the car to the shop and they were awesome. The Fit lives.

Ty for all the kind words. It means alot. Pictures uploading now
