FitFreak Shooting meet?

The only problem is finding a place to shoot long range targets... I spent a few months outside of Plainview Tx. with a friend that was a gunsmith in 1994 and those guys up there are real good since about all there is to shoot at is prairie dogs, jack rabbits and rats at the city dump... It is so flat there that getting close to a critter is a bitch... Bird hunting is amazing there with doves and huge pheasant that they refer to as turbo chickens... I must admit to enjoying shooting a little Marlin .22 with a cheap little BSA scope more and more in recent years... I have an ancient Weaver K-2 scope and mount that I attempted to use on a M-1 Garand brought up to National Match Grade at the Springfield Armory before I got it... It has a peep sight that sits under the scope but when I try to use it the recoil drives the scope directly into the middle of my forehead. It's hard to shoot with blood running down into your eyes..

I've been to On Target in San Juan Capistrano a couple times. I really love it but it's short range. I think it's called Iron Sights down in Oceanside is outdoor long range but I've never made the trip down there.

There is some interest from here too. It's been years since I put some rounds through my Model 1895 (last time was up on Angeles Forest, I think), and I was given a .357 which I've never fired. It's about time!
