Bad news guys something bad happened to my engine last night:
it had been making a squeaking sound almost like belt slip, but it came and went for about a week. Last night bringing my son home from hockey around the corner the sound got louder between 1500-4000 rpm. Then as I was passing a car, I heard a loud pop and it lost power and sounded like an exhaust leak, but the CEL didn't start flashing until about a minute later. I kept it under 2000 rpms and limped into my garage with what sounded like a blown exhaust gasket or fitting. Investigating further, oil level fine (only 50%) coolant fine, belts looked okay, battery good etc. But what i did find has me scared. The coil pack on the cylinder closest to the driver was hanging loose and was actually broken off at the bolt. Closer inspection found the spark plug wasn't in the head and was sitting on the undertray. I grabbed it and discovered it was missing the electrode... I am worried about the electrode being in the cylinder, worried about the threads in the head being stripped, worried about finding a place that can check it over for me quickly and honestly...any tips today on shops in South county would be appreciated!!!

I think the BBQ may be out for me...

Sorry to hear that. It might not be that bad. Sounds like maybe the sparkplug was loose and fell and I would guess the electrode broke after falling down. It probably backfired because you are running on 3 sparkplugs and the coil may have something to do with it...anyways I would probably take it to a South County Honda dealer or if you could get it to Orange..the guys at Project Import are really good and cool. They'e used to dealing with modified cars as well. Good luck man..here's the link to their website

Off topic, but I have a set of (BNIB) Denso Iridium Power IK22 spark plugs if anyone is interested. I'll be bringing them to the meet this Sunday. PM me if you're interesed.

 

That is scary to find your coil pack hanging like that! Hope you get it fix soon and if you need spark plugs let me know I have brand new set sitting in my garage and I don't need it.
