Sold my Fit! And the replacement is.....
Hey everyone! It's been a while since I posted on here, but I thought you'd all like to know I sold my Fit. It was a 2007 GD3 Sport in Nighthawk Black Pearl, with the automatic transmission. I bought it in May of 2007 and traded it in this past Thursday with 59,200 miles.
Replacing it is a new 2013 Mazdaspeed3. Needless to say, it's a big step up from the Fit in terms of power, and the first car I've ever bought on my own. It has 263 horsepower and 280 lb.ft. of torque, delivered to the wheels by a 6-speed manual. It came standard with a 10-speaker Bose sound system and 18-inch gunmetal alloy wheels.
Although I no longer own a Fit, I look forward to hanging out with all of you again! SoCal FitFreaks throw the best BBQs and meets, and there's no way I could ever walk away from that! Thanks for all the great memories, SoCal!
Below are some pictures of the Fit in it's final stages of modification, and a picture of me with my new Mazda.
My new baby...
As a final note: I have my green powder coated Enkei wheels for sale. If you're interested, leave a comment or send me a message. The wheels + powder coat cost $850, plus they're wrapped in Falken Ziex tires (original cost of $450) that have about 15,000 miles on them. I will sell the wheels, tires, and Muteki long lugs for $1000, and I'll even deliver to anywhere in SoCal for a flat cost of $50.

I hate the way the Speed3 looks, it's too bulbous and smiley. I like the regular 3 a lot better.
But I DO like the Speed3 overall, because it's ridiculous and I think the world needs more absurd cars. I think cars that exist despite filling no need are cool. It's easy to identify why the Golf GTI or Subaru WRX or Scion FRS exist. (Respectively, they are refined performance and utility; bad-weather performance; and affordable RWD purity). But the Speed3 is no more useful than the regular 2.5, isn't a pure sports car, and has so much power it's actually hard to drive because it can't put it down. There is NO reason for it. So that makes it special. And there aren't that many affordable cars you can say that about.

After owning 2 black cars, I can safely say I will think twice about owning one again! Way too hard to keep clean.

Congrats. I almost bought a 2012 red MS3 this week. Took it home over night but decided to pass and wait for the next gen to come out.
Did u get a good deal on it? The 2012 are $1500 off right now. With my discount from Bridgestone, Mazda loyalty and the dealer cash I had them down to $21500 before tax/fee. I just can't justify the expense though considering my Fit has only 24,000mi and will be paid off in a year. I still have Kart racing to get my speed jollies.
My suggestion is DO NOT modify it. Most of the catastropic engine failures (rod through the block) I've seen on those cars are from people with a long list of mods. Warranty is your friend. Rear motor mount is a weak point. Other than that Mazda has sorted most of the previous problems out on those cars.
They go through tires pretty quick with their alignment and the shocks only seem to last about 30,000 mi. Fun cars. I do think they could use a bigger turbo though. Pulls hard in the mid range then falls on its face above 5000. Nice to not have to work to go fast though. Much different than the Honda driving experience.
I like torque.
