I just checked with Honda. The Fit will be launching in April 2006. According the information, there will be 3 model and the top model is Sport. Price is from $15000~$19000 plus tax.

 

From $15k eh? Seems high, the Yaris is less for base. We'll have to wait and see. Where did you get this info, the dealers areound here know very little. Some even say the Fit will be a 2007 model relaesed in October. Honda USA says it's out in the spring, according to honda.com.

You cannot compare Yaris with Fit. IMO, Honda has so much better in quality since I have owned more then 6 Hondas for the past 15 years

 

Someone that works in the Alliston plant said it should be available in March 2006. I don't think Honda would wait untill 2007 to bring this car out. People are afraid of gas prices going up again!

Suzuki has a nice little car with the Aeiro, Toyota has the Yaris, Ford is bringing something in that is smaller than the Focus, so Honda shouldn't be left behind!

 

More information I got from my Honda dealer. Besides there will be 3 models and price from $15000~$19000, I also find out there will be 6 colours. Orange, blue, black, silver, gray and red. I will try to get the colour codes and we will find out what exact colour that they will have available.

$15 000 to $19 000 for a fit? that's ridiculous, it's suppose to be competing with the yaris. it's obvious the yaris/echo is sweeping sales (you can't see less than 10 in an hour during rush hour at times) in canada right now, and if honda wants to compete with the yaris in canada, they will set the fit at around the same price or less than the yaris. also, $15 000 is fairly close to the smart aswell, and many "trendy" people would probably choose mercedes over honda because it's produced from mercedes, (let's face the facts, not every fit buyer will be a honda nut/fitfreak or someone that admires japanese quality), so i'm pretty sure the price will, or should be less that $15 000 for a base. i really hope your wrong, but i'll be buying a fit either way ... hopefully.
and about the colours, NO YELLOW ?!?!?! i had my heart absolutely SET on yellow, just like the gorgeous mugen fit i see everytime i go to fitfreak.net. no yellow makes me sad, i hope they will produce yellow.

 

I think the price is fair. The reason for ppl getting the Fit is because the Fit is a way more practical car and is good on gas. You shouldn't compare a 2 door vs 5dr (Mercedes vs Honda). The base Smart cost $17000CAD, basically you a buying a Mercedes just like a 97 Civic CX.

Yes there will be no yellow and no white, I guess Honda Canada is dumb so anyways we just gotta choose from the colour that they offered which are red, silver, grey, black, orange & blue.

 

hmm, i see your point on comparing the smart vs. the fit, i was comparing them as gas sippers strictly. but i still do hope they price it competitively against the yaris which is about $13 500 for the three door, but i JUST found out a five door is $15 000, so i guess the pricing is actually pretty fair. i still hope the fit "type-s" or whatever the sport model is called is going to be closer to $18 000 than $19 000 because the yaris RS is about $17-18 000. anyways, no white and no yellow make me uber sad. yellow and white are basically the flagship colours of honda, HOW COULD THEY DO THIS? removing yellow and white from the fit is a silly move on honda's half. OK here is the big scenario.If honda is presenting this car in basically midyear AND the model is gonna be approx. 3-4 years old already ,is that a practical move considering it will be available probably 15 or so months on the North American market THEN it will be discontinued ,making room for the replacement FIT that is already gonna be available in Europe/Asia.I'm totally stoked to by this model but my issue is, will it be overlooked as old school once the next one comes out?I'd hate to see that happen but what if it acctually helps it be more appreciated because there will be less on the road and not be a "BELLY BUTTON" car cuz everyones got one ...like a belly button.

yeah i was thinking about that awhile ago, but that's basically what happened to the echo/yaris. out for awhile, BAM, new yaris... i'd like to see the next generation fit before i buy the current fit model though, but MAYBE there's a possibility that the fit model coming is going to be new, because isn't japan getting a new fit next year in the spring or something? this could explain why honda has been so hush hush. the fuel economy for the fit that honda released is a little lower than what people thought it would be. zOMG, can you say new fit body with k15a?!?!? lol, if only. anyways, i might wait awhile and see the next fit, if it's a HUGE improvement, i'll wait, if not, well .....

I've been waiting more than a year for the Fit to come to Canada, ever since the rumours started. Most of the hatchbacks available just don't do it for me, especially what Toyota is putting out ! And the Civic is getting too big and expensive for me. I'm a hatch freak.

 

Maybe with the auto show in Montreal in January Honda Canada will have a little more information for us. I'd like to know if the Fit has air standard, I have my doubts. The Civic can be had with no air. It seems logical to offer the Fit with no air to help keep the price down.

 

The Fit with no air, 5 speed and zero options.....$13,900???? 5 door Yaris with air lists at $14,910. What's your guess?

 

The Honda web site is up now <http://www.honda.ca/fit>. It's short on detail, but since it says that the Sport version has air standard, it seems clear that the base model doesn't.

There's also a little reference to Toyota's ad campaign, so at least they know who their competition is.

 

OK, here's my speculation on pricing: since Honda consider that their direct competition is the Yaris rather than the Koreans, Fit prices will roughly match the corresponding Yaris versions. The base 5-door Yaris is $14910, so the base DX will be about $14900. I don't think it will be much cheaper, since Honda has a few extra features (ABS and side airbags) that they can push, but they won't break $15K because that's a "round" number with psychological barrier, and they can't get too far from the $13580 3-door Yaris. Then the LX will add air and power windows/mirrors/locks; the 5-door Yaris with the equivalent option package is $16560 so the LX will be under $17K. The Sport will match the Yaris RS with options ($18815) and hold just under $19K.

 

I'm subcompact/compact import hatch freak myself getting rid of my 02 MAZDA PROTEGE 5 which has been a goddamn treat. This is definitely my next car. Just waiting for Honda Canada's on-line specs, pricing and a brochure. Mentally I have my options and possible modifications scoped out too. Intake, Muffler, Springs, Wheels and Winter Tires/Steelies. "I have long had Acura dreams on a Civic type budget.., but in the meantime this will do."
This $#!t will sell..., as we Canadians are more value savvy with our car shopping. The hatch with its re-introduction of the Mazda P5 and Toyota Matrix back in late 01 and 02 made it millenium trendy looking and cool.
