A/T Fits

Does anyone actually race their A/T fits w/ paddles or no paddles and keep pace with the other M/T cars?

auto mode works best. the ecu is error-proof, makes perfect shift points whereas the user may shift too early or too late, hurting your times. theres always trial and error. experiment, and see what works best.

I've run mine in an autocross - twice (one of those was earlier today!!) I just put it in S-mode, and let it do its thing. No way to shift with all the cranking around on the wheel. On a track I would do the paddles, but not in a parking lot.

^yah, thats the bone i have to pick with the paddleshifters. its hard doing it while you're turning. If the S mode had a lever option, you'll find it VERY useful in autoxing.

Thanks for the feedback. My first AutoX weekend is coming up. 3/24 Test & Tune then 3/25 actual event (different courses each day). I was thinking of shifting to 2nd and leaving it anyways. Sounds like it'll be fun.

Yes, it will downshift on you if you hit an extreme speed for the gear, i.e. 30mph for 5th is considered low, so it'll downshift you to 4th, etc.

Coincidentally, I've had some trouble downshifting from 2nd->1st with the paddles. Even though I try to wait until it's near 5 or 6 mph, it still feels really jerky. I've learned to just let the computer shift it down from 2nd -> 1st.

The A/T is supposed to be slower than the M/T. I think Car&Driver tested the M/T at 8.7 to 60 and the A/T at 10.4. I'm not sure if they used the paddles/auto when they tested the 10.4.
