I raced Regionally this weekend. I did not go to KC for the 2 day event because of the forecast of rain. The local course was small with one straight at the beginning and the end which didn't compliment the Fit whatsoever. I would guess I lost 3-4 seconds out of staying competitive in PAX because of this. The Avon Tech RAs stuck to the pavement nicely. They're a little on the heavy side for R comps IMO which did affect acceleration. The Fit handled quite well regardless with a lot less bodyroll than you would think. I won my class against only one other car...a '90 Celica GT on Victoracers.
I had a lot of problems with the manual sportshifting. I haven't looked into it much yet, but it seems it wants to upshift in some situations (maybe if you hit the rev limiter a couple times???).

Is the Fit the car to have in HS? No, but I'm sure most people could still win Regionally and have fun doing so. I truly wish there was a more powerful version available. Even 20-30 hp would make this a different car. Maybe a Fit Si or Type R??? :P
I had a good time. Driving the car was so easy. It really goes where you point it. The balance of the car is front heavy...so much to the point you don't even seem to use the back tires much. This is probably due to the fact the gas tank is mounted under the front seats. It lacks the power to really get you in trouble too much. I tried my best to throw it around like I've done with previous cars I've raced and couldn't get it out of whack. Even so it drives great on course and doesn't feel like it's understeering to the point it's not fun.

K&N panel filter
CG Lock (best $35 I've spent on AutoX)
205/50/15 Avon Tech RAs wrapped around 15x6 OEM Fit Sport wheels
Final thoughts...this car needs lighter wheels and tires. I don't know what other race tires weigh, but I weighed the Avon Techs at 23 lbs each. There aren't many choices to run lighter aftermarket wheels due to the Fit Sport's high 55mm offset. Keep in mind the R comps run wide and slightly rubbed the rear shock dust boots. I would recommend to run at least a 3mm spacer.

I'm not sure if I'll run this car again. I'm on the fence about it. The lack of acceleration was a bit dissapointing for someone who's starting his 8th season of Solo. I'm sure there are other courses that would compliment the car more, but the one I ran wasn't one of them. Don't let that shy you away from racing your Fit. You'll have fun! Just remember to keep your expectations low if you're used to much faster cars.

Just wondering where did you get the CG Lock from for $35?

 

Actually I think I paid a little less than that. I got a 2 pack along with a friend who split it with me. I'll reply back if I can find the ebay store.

 

All you need is a real track ( with all the respect for wherever you can find a place to solo) I mean, a one where you can build some speed. And, Didi you look for the suzuki esteem 15" speedline rims? I know they will be hard to find ( as all that I find are currently using them) but a deal may appear, and I am shure the offset will be right and they are light!!

Also, Can you take the rear seats out? I mean it is legal to do it in h stock?-------man like 70lbs

 

You cannot take the rear sets out, that will bump you to Street Mod and you will be up against some VERY serious hardware (supercharged M3s come to mind).

That is intresting about the Suzuki wheels, do you know the exact offset?

 

That's too bad!! In nasa-tt you can do some mods based on points. once you reach i.e 20points, then you are moved to the next upclass. ( removing the rear seats = 3 pts )

i don't know the offset of those whells, but I am pretty shure based on looks, that is fairly high (I would guess 50+)

i wish my wife hadn't give them with the esteem when she trade in for the escape. I was pissed off I know where is an esteem with those rims. I will try to look at them to see if is there or whatever info I can get.
