Recently the guys at Spike have started the casting call for Bullrun season 2. For those that don't know, the Bullrun is a cross country timed rally both the real and television aired version. This version for T.V. airing is similar to the real one except you are not allowed to speed on public roads no questions asked and the challenges may cause damage to your car.

The show's shooting is a month long, there should be 12 different teams with a driver and codriver, and in the event of winning the final leg you'll will $200,000 dollars.*

*note: The above may have been changed after the 1st season's rally.

The requirements for this year's cast are...

1. All applicants need to be 21+ by December ‘08
2. Driver and co-driver must have a full valid drivers licence.
3. Vehicles must be fully insured etc
4. Applicants need to understand what Bullrun is and be prepared to put their vehicles through Bullrun challenges.
5. Applicants do not have to be US citizens, they can be from anywhere.
6. Filming is in December 08, the show airs February 09 on SPEED Channel

fit would be a great canidate. great mpg for the long trip. im more into the gumball in europe. what happened to the cannonball?

 

The cannonball got outlawed for a reason I do not remember, more than likely due to all the people trying to break the coast to coast record time. But I do agree, the Fit would definitely excel.

However it would not just be good in MPG but also when it comes to challenges that require a car with great maneuverability. In the reality series, you'll have to compete against another team for a faster time slip. The only downside about the Fit is that it doesn't have enough low end grunt.

Now if this were a real rally like Gumball or the actual Bullrun, the Fit would have to be gutted like crazy and have some power if you would want to keep up with the front of the pack. Sure we can easily do 350 miles with a 10.6-10.8 gallon tank, but some guys are out there running along with their factory tanks giving them easily 500 miles a tank.

 

I watched the first season, was pretty cool. The Charger that was in that one is local to me, see it once in a while on the road, that thing is sick. Fit would be just as good a candidate as any other. Every other car would most certainly have more power, but sure wouldnt handle as well.

 

gut the fit. put a roll cage in it. boosted k20/k24 and a 20 gallon fuel cell in the rear would be very competitive.

 

Agreed. The majority of the cars on there pretty much leaned on one thing and had a heavy downfall. The Lotus had great handling; but no power, Lambo had power; but wasn't easy to fix, the F-150 had a huge tank, but sucked at everything else. So on and so forth.

The '68 Charger would have been in serious trouble if it wasn't for all the modifications the owner had done to it. Forged internals in a 440 big block, 6 speed trans (Torqueflight 727 with a Gear Vendors overdrive unit), Wilwood brakes with drilled rotors, Hotchkiss (I think thats the company's name) sway bars with hemi lowering springs in front. Even with the car built like that it wasn't indestructable, he blew the diff the 2nd episode doing donuts.

Yes, a Fit with that set up would be. However, you'd have to also have multiple GPSs and/or road maps to get an accurate route to the next checkpoint. Along with CBs, radars, jammers, and binoculars for the teams that really like to book down the road.

 

The competition isnt all about brute power. Remember the F150 came in first quite often going from point a>b, because it didnt have to stop for gas as often. Knowing your vehicle inside and out and how to drive it during the competitions is key. I had a feeling the Scion was going to go far, but I think the 2 girls just weren't up to par with some of the other drivers.

Regardless, I think that show was totally geared towards that Charger winning it all. Did you see how bummed Goldberg was when they got eliminated.

 

Remember what happened when the F150 didn't stop in timea? I couldn't do that to my Fit.....

 

Yes, I remember that; the driver intentionally went through that wall trying to beat the Lotus's time. But I feel that the Fit wouldn't have too much of a problem if it had to go into a similar challenge. So long as the braking zone is at least 100 feet away from the wall all the driver would have to heel-toe downshift while braking (just downshift for sport ATs).

But I do know how you feel about the wall. Hitting a wall at around 60 MPH in a Fit won't look too pretty.

True, the F-150 was in front of the pack often because of the range it can travel. But navigation skills were also a factor of that, which is something rarely shown unless they made a wrong turn.

I also agree about knowing your vehicle, you can have a brand spankin' now Lotus Exige or Mucielago and still get out driven by an old sled like the '68 Charger or the F-150 by simply not knowing the limits of the car and your driving.

The Scion team I had a feeling weren't going to last too long due to they acted and for the fact that they didn't go for the time bonus. Now the RB26 powered S14 getting knocked out early shocked me. That thing seemed to be build strictly for track events.

Now if a Fit was built specifically for a cross country rally, kylerwho's idea would work. But if it had to do a rally and track event the K20/24 swap may throw off the Fit's handling, unless the suspension is dialed in, and possibly be overkill in the point to point part of the rally, unless you goal is to shoot down the pasta rockets and rest of the high end supercars there.
