Nikko Circuit 15 May

Honda Style Fun and Run Nikko 2010, Honjou 2011
The magazine/book company that produces "Honda Style Magazine" is hosting an all Honda day this coming Saturday. I didn't know about it until this past weekend and looked online and seen entry forms had to be turned in by the 7th of May. I emailed to the company and the Editor in Chief (Kentaro Sabashi) said they will allow me to enter the lapping day.
Overhead satellite shot courtesy of Google Maps. It's a smaller circuit measuring just 1.035km / 0.643mi long.
I'm not sure exactly what all will happen this day, I do know I should get 3 15min lapping sessions, which should translate into about 50~60 laps. Can not hardly wait.

Very nice. Nikko reminds me of the Driving Park Motorland course in Gran Turismo 4 - rather tight and winding inside itself. That tight and twisty layout is perfect for our cars.

Didn't really take many pics, sorry but that just isn't my thing even though I have cameras. Took some in-car video that I am going to piece together. My fastest lap was a 47.046 and I averaged 48.068 for 32 laps...slower drivers hurt my times. When I was in free air I was low to mid 47s every time. J's Racing GE8 with all their goodies had a fastest time of 45.1xx. So I was just 2 seconds off. Though with Nikko being a small track, that 2 seconds might equate to something like 10 seconds on a large track like Suzuka, who knows, maybe it wouldn't be that pronounced. The Fit definitely needs more sussy to it. It would understeer quite badly in a couple sections of the track, but that might be more to do with my aggressive style of driving.
I was interviewed by Honda Style, so that might show up on one of their next DVDs. They were quite excited that I was so into Hondas and that one of my sons name is Soichiro after Honda-San himself. If it does come out, I'm sure it is going to look so how can I put it...something. hahaha
I took all of 16 pics...
My pit mate, well right behind me was Ichiro from Noblesse. He had his CR-Z out, it looks really good in black with the bronze CE28s.
J's Racing GE8 and HKS' supercharged CR-Z.
The Feel's FD2R is siiiiiiick. Motor is a K24 with ITBs and it is super lightweight. The doors are just the outer skin, fully gutted (of course, it's a race car), plexan windows in the doors and what all else there is done to shave weight. It sounds so good and is pretty damn fast around even this tiny circuit.
Again I'm sorry for not taking more pictures for those that were interested. And working on some video.

47 seconds definitely ain't bad on a short track like that. Two seconds' difference with basically a stock (but weight-reduced) car vs. a tricked-out J's Racing GE8 is cool!
In terms of length it reminds me of the "short-track" version of Subic International Raceway (SIR), although Nikko has more turns and SIR is slightly longer by 500m.
How's your rubber standing up after the event? I'll be waiting for the video.

Part 1
Part 2
Videos are a combined 16min, had to break it into 2 pieces to upload on to YouTube.
Tires held up very well, I had so much extra rubber on them that on the way home I could hear it shooting up into the chassis. For sure though, a 2nd set of wheels will be purchased and some A050s. The AD08s work well, but since they are also my everyday tire, don't want to use them up in this fashion. I did it with my S2000 in Guam, the Dunlop *Specs were cheap enough ordering from the US that I didn't mind using the everyday tire for auto-x every other Sunday. Unfortunately, the AD08 is not sold in a 205/50R16 stateside for whatever reason.
How slow were my laps stuck behind the FD2R...about 7.5 seconds slower, 1 was actually 8.5 seconds slower than my fastest lap. Why I was getting upset.

Damn that FD2R was slow! Bwahahaha!
Nice video, haven't seen part 2 yet though. Nikko seems like a lot of fun! I'd imagine it'd take the life out of brakes and tires if taken at maximum commitment though - the amount of right turns alone looks tough on rubber.

That looks awesome !!! Seems like you had a lot of fun and thanks for showing us those pictures I really enjoyed them...
Good Job with that time, even on that little track... the more you practice the faster you get and that is all that is important.

Oscar,
If I can recall there were about 8. Spoon, Feel's, Noblesse, HKS and 4 others, but don't believe they were affiliated with any shops. 1 of the others was sporting the full Mugen body, but wasn't tied in with M-Tec.

Just found out today that Honda Style is having another Fun and Run Honda meeting, this time at Honjou Circuit up in Saitama, about 75miles from me. Just submitted my entry form and waiting to hear back if 1 of the 80 entries, deadline is 6 May for the 14 May event.
This circuit is slightly larger than Nikko, but only by about 65m. So another tight course. Hopefully I'll be entered again.
