Bringing a US '09 Fit to the EU?

Hi, I have an opportunity to work in Amsterdam or Brussels, and was thinking of bringing my fairly new Fit? Does anybody know (or how can I find out) if a US fit is OK for the EU roads/licensing/registration/etc? The last time I looked this up was when I moved to the UK for a few years, but a US car (left-hand drive) to the UK was much more complicated obviously (in addition to "being on the wrong side" there were issues with the lights etc in my Toyota Yaris).

Thanks for any help & advice!

I'm quite sure there will be problems with the headlights and maybe other things. The best idea might be to write or call the departments concerned of the local embassy.

OK, I ran into that with bring my Toyota Yaris to the UK (i.e. lights facing the wrong-way etc), but figured EU would be a safer bet and maybe Honda makes them the same in Japan anyway for "left-hand-drive" cars.

I would find military folks to ask. They'll likely have experience with moving cars between Europe, North America, and Asia.

I know for sure that you will need a rear fog light on the left (drive side) of USDM FIT.

Dont have any experience with this but imo its more hassle than its worth and maybe cheaper to just buy a Fit in the EU

Honda Fit to Europe

Shipping your car is a good idea, it just depends on how long you will be over there. I am doing the same thing moving to Spain, and have written about it in my other posts. The Fit seems easy to conform to the E.U. SAV test it must have a rear fog light, and side blinkers. I have solved this by buying the mirror covers for the new Jazz that has the indicators built in. As for the fog light the cheapest way to go is to have a PIAA LED light fastened to the bumper. I will be shipping my car to Belgium, and have a great price. Good luck, and let me know how you make out.

thanks for all the replies! well I opted to go 3000 miles the other way, i.e. I'm going to be driving cross-country and work in the San Francisco Bay area! Not because of the "US car to EU" hassle -- it just seems safer for my career to stay put in the US right now!
